31 days left

One month from today, I'll be sitting in Memorial Stadium watching warm ups and watching WR's dance in between reps.

Joy.

Here's 5 things I'm looking forward to getting more clarity on between now and kick off.

1- Briscoe's grades.
No Briscoe no North title, pretty simple. Anything is possible but I'll sleep a lot better and lose less hair if he is still on the team.

My prediction- Briscoe will catch 7 balls for 115 yards and 2 TD's in week 1.

2- Back-up RB
Sharp is going to have a bad ass year, I got a real good feeling. This will be the first time that he's the guy and I think him having 1K rushing is a lock.

For the backup I think its a 2 horse race with Daniel Porter and Toben Opurum. My money is on Toben with Rell Lewis being a backup and Deshaun Sands red shirting.

3- Quinton Woods, Jake Laptad & Maxwell Onegybule
These 3 DE's are crucial to our success, so any positive info about them is going to send me into hysteria. Plus when you go to KU game don't you have more fun when we are hitting the QB? You do, me too, lets be friends.

My prediction- Laptad I think is going to be very solid and Max O looked good through the Spring and the tail end of last year. Woods is supposed to be a stud and I don't think the staff brings him in unless he can deliver. I'm beyond stoked about this, trust me its scary.

4- Linebacker
With the switch to the 4-2-5, there is less of an emphasis on LB but I'm looking at this for a different reason.
Mainly I want to hear about the health of Justin Springer, which I have no reason to believe won't be exceptional. Even if Springer doesn't factor into the LB rotation he's a maniac on Special Teams and we need to shore that up in a big way.
Plus I want to know about Quigley, Bandit? And Vernon Brooks is supposed to be the bees knees and if he can really cover a slot receiver or TE that will make our D that much saltier.

5- Season tickets and KR
Hopefully season tickets are at 40K or more, Memorial needs to be packed every week and during the 4th quarter. If you don't want to see TR5's swan song then you're an idiot.

Kick Returner- Who the hell is it going to be, I'll believe its Briscoe when I see it until then I'm thinking its going to be Isiah Barfield or Bradley McDougald, but I have not a clue. Whoever it is it'd be real nice if they could actually return a kick.

What are you guys looking forward to?

We're getting close.

I am looking forward to:
1) tailgating
2) Enjoying my last 8 weekends with TR5 (6 home + KSU + Austin)
3) seeing a minimum of 3 hawks drafted into the NFL next year (Kmagic, Stucky, DBris)
4) Reesing making a run at the Heisman ( you heard it here first, guarantee he is asked to NY)
5) Winning the North

I'm going to tweak some of the above comment.
1- LJ you're going to 9 games, you forgot the Border War
2-look for 4 Hawks to get drafted, Sharp is too fast for someone not to take a chance on him.
3- we beat OU and Tech and TR5 is going to NYC- Dreiling said it first I'm just giving y'all the logistics

Finally Winning the North is a must, its gotta happen

Here's my take on OAD's 5 things:

Briscoe's grades
Call me crazy, but I disagree with the attitude of "no Dez, no North title". He is certainly talented, but it's not like he's our only playmaker. Kerry Meier might end up having a better year now that he's a full-time wide receiver. Briscoe is good, but the only player we absolutely can't afford to lose is Reesing.

Backup tailback
Bringing in Porter has to put the redshirt on Sands. As far as our starter, I hope Sharp has a healthy year, silencing his "durability" critics. I'm extremely anxious to see if Opurum can be our 'thunder' when we bring in 'lighting' next year, Joseph Randle.

Defensive ends
Laptad is one of the better all-around D-linemen in the Big XII. Hopefully we have better luck with Juco's on defensive side of the ball. But it would be nice if Quinton Woods could win the starting spot. That's why we brought him in.

Linebacker
There will certainly be competition for PT with only two true spots up for grabs. I hope Quigley can get some play. We certainly know he can pancake a Longhorn or two! It's quite a task to replace your entire linebacking corps. But I think some veterans like Wright & Springer will help transition for Vernon Brooks.

Trenches
I'm not concerned with ticket sales or specialists. But I'm very excited to see how we fare in the trenches. Protecting Reesing is a must, but creating lanes for our backs will be just as important. I think we'll win a lot more games if Reesing doesn't have to run for his life and throw 40+ times a game.

Well, that's my $0.02 - Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Ace-
Very much agree, that we're way better when we can run the ball more effectively- makes TR5's job easier and the D's.

I am looking forward to:
1) KU domination
2) That first bloody mary from Mike at 6 in the morning that makes tailgate construction that much easier
3) The new Tent that may as well just be referred to from now on as the "Palace" (it is that amazing)
4) Lund manning the grill for hours on end dishing out masterpiece after masterpiece.
5) Seeing the smile on Dreilings face when he pushes a few buttons to get satellite TV rather than having to unravel a 300 foot piece of cable wire.
6) Enjoying 9 weekends of watcing
TR5 work his magic. (6 home + KSU + Austin + Arrowhead)
