year of the jayhawk

here's my year of being a jayhawk, mind you, i'm in a bad dark place because of tyrel reed and the arizona game, but here goes

Jan 3 - Orange Bowl, great time, great weather, surreal experience. Best moment, walking into the stadium and seeing a couple of our guys warming up and the orange bowl logo at the 50 and having a moment, thinking "how the fuck did we just pull this off" also calling the blocked FG, was very Cleo of me. Good time

Losing at K-st and them celebrating like obama just got elected, fucking k-st people, they can fuck themselves, I said at this rate we would make the sweet 16

Taking a bus with the SUA at KU to Ok St, thinking it was cool and a helluva a deal but there was a lot of douchery on the bus, went with megtropoly, and let the "rowdiest fans in america" get a W. PS- who the fuck claims that shit, rowdiest fans in america, really?
this was our 3rd loss of the year and on the way home, we were checking the blackberry for the tenn and memphis score, which was kind of prophetic.
I told megtropoly that win we win the whole fucking thing we'll get over this, I said this when we lost to OU in the big 12 tourney back in 02 and then made the final four, so I'm pretty smart.

I kind of doubted our squad through conference play, because I thought they should be so much better than they were until senior night.
I start crying on the way to the bar listening to them introduce Toast and I got a text that said "toast is crying" so like a woman, this meant i had to cry.
We put an absolute anal thundering on them and I said final four, so we're moving up on my expectation ladder.

big 12 tourney-
ku-nu watched 1st half with stratton and jennie and left at half, people think this is weird when i do this, but i do better watching the games on lockdown, plus i wanted to throw some shit and public venues look unfavorably on shit like that.
ku-a&m- went with 193950 and this game was closer than it should have been and i remember hansborough got fouled with 2 seconds left to help carolina win and me and 193950 agreed that he was and is a fag/bitch.
ku-ut - this is a weird day because I had tickets and I didn't go, and I didn't go because one of my clients was supposed to need help that day and I was trying to be a stud, well they never called and i drank 20 bud heavies and got launched with reals and the future roomie, this was a fun day for me.

selection sunday- loved our draw, was worried about wisconsin more than georgetown, but felt good

2nd round-
went to omaha and got launched with my boss (LJ) his hot ass wife and the future roomie. UNLV fans are kind of like mizzou fans, dirty poor, without something to live for and with a false sense of hope, so that was fun.
This was the first tourney game i'd been to since 97 so i was really uneasy, thankfully we did work and it was on.

sweet 16- remember i think we should get past this, and I am so unnervous for villanova, i expected a blowout and what did i get, yep a blowout. I grabbed a beer with the OP people and then went to lock down, davidson beat wisconsin earlier that day so i was basically one quick move from shitting my pants

elite 8- I remember being more confident than i was the year before against ucla, and i remember reading an article about Self and how bad he wanted a final four, so I knew it was gonna happen, the rest of the day, i did not know would happen.

(DREILING PLEASE READ THIS PART YOU'LL LOVE IT)
I go to henry t's for the game, after i skipped out on my cousins first communion, because, I can only deal with so many things and let me tell you, hanging out with my mom's side of the family and all their fucked up drama and shit would have sent me into a nervous fit.
reals, rb, future roomie and a late appearance by megtropoly
i didn't drink that much, but i got nervous as the game wore on, to the tune of walking around T's during halftime.
reals is hammered
so anyway it is what it is, that tool misses that shot, i leap onto reals, we're humping, i throw kid sister in the air, me and blondie embrace, i stand on the table, SCREAMING
we slam a 24 oz beer, literally shotgun it and start driving to johnny's in Olathe.
drink a bit there with kelting, t-mac starts crying, finally realizes I am a huge dick, so i feel bad for her because i thought she knew
reals can't talk

we go pound pitchers at keno's in OP and then call it a night, about 10 i see on the news players coming back, so i get blondie, who is shockingly supportive at this point and reals comatosed ass into eddie2 and we head back to lawrence

we almsot wreck the car because i am trying to bid on a 2002 final 4 ticket stub (that's for LJ)
anyway, this was a fun night

final 4-
LJ and I have agreed we will win by 14, we will look smart, this wasn't a roy thing for me either, it was a UNC thing and they were in our way of something really cool
so i puked that morning not from booze and then i watched chick flicks on tbs all day and laid on the couch.
i have no energy, i can hardly yell or clap during the game, and i was supposed to watch this game at the Field House but i was too weak.
i leave in the second half when they cut it to 5 or 3 or whatever the hell it was and i don't listen the radio, but i keep refreshing jayhawk slant on my crackberry, a trick i took up during the davidson game and i turn the radio on as i pull back into my hoodrich apartment and piper said something that made me feel like we had leveled out
and then i saw us pull away, it was exciting

memphis-
best day of my life.

football season come rolling around- spring game sucked, thought we looked bad, was not happy
s fl- realy should have won that game but whatever
ou- i knew we would lose, i was actually proud of us, and briscoe starts to make himself a stud
tech - worse game ever at memorial for me personally
ut- same, whatever
traveled to iowa state and had a blast (yes i realize this was earlier) loved the come back led by sharp and KM, who knew that route he ran at iowa state would be run again
went to nebraska, and realized i probably not gonna do that again.
border war has been blogged previously, it was unreal.

so as we wrap up the year of the hawk, it looks like we got a win against albany in hoops coming up at the house and hopefully more good things.
mangino is putting together a hell of a recruiting class for next year and Todd and KM and buddies have some business to finish up next week.

cole aldrich was nervous?

What a little bitch statement? You know I group the dakota's and minnesota all together as pussy states, everybody I meet from there is by and large a pussy, they have a fun accent, but they're weak.
I really enjoyed cole playing like a bum at the bust stop, sans starter jacket.
I'm okay losing at arizona, can you believe i said that shit, its a lie, but cole needs to learn to be a stud and not a vagina and while we're at it, collins might be one of my least favorite jayhawks of all time at this rate, he's a couple more shitty games of throwing up ill advised jumpers and being stupid to being grouped in the same group as the nick bradfords of the world.

While there is no reason to not pile on everyone, we'll throw some holiday props to the twins, because those little fuckers played pretty damn well if you ask me and we're a big reason we were up at the half and up nine early in the second.
Brady "pajamas" morningstar, locking down buddiger, who mind you was a stud coming out of high school and yeah he postered cole's lame ass, but I always thought buddiger was pretty average, everyone just sucks his dick because he looks like he should play for duke, so whatever, he got jamma'd (jamma'd, that's gonna stick)

so i hope everyone has a shitty christmas, because I know I am going to

Fucking denizens of the blog have spoken kind of

Looks like motherfuckers or 3 people want more recruiting.
This is kind of pussy thing to vote for, really, I mean I spend most of my waking hours reading about 17 and 18 year old boys and I guess more people are into that than I thought, so I'm dialing it up and here's what was dialed.

(blogger note, I just wrote a fucking epic piece on red shirted football players so this is kind of pissing me off, that no one cared)

So let's do hoops, and this is going to be short so pound sand
Jeff Withey, would be eligible second semester next year and is 7-0 Skinny, he seems to be a lean to KU and I think he'd be a great addition, because it would give Cole a legit big guy to bag with in practice and he could replace cole if cole goes league, plus you can have enough people that are that tall, trust me, i'm 5-7 and I know this.
He would have 3 and a half years of eligibility and would be at KU when classes start in January, if he were to commit, I like KU's chances here.

Obviously we already have Thomas Robinson signed up and Elijah Johnson signed up for 09 and are still in on the #1 and #9 players in the class, John Wall (lighting / scary quick PG- will be a one and done) and Lance Stephenson (6-6 from Brooklyn, ballaholic)
I think Self could get 1 of these guys but not both, either would be awesome, I wouldn't care who it was, we won't know shit on this til after the season, so no need to worry about it.

Football-
Just got 4 star Toben Opurum to commit, he's a big back and he's a stud, had offers from Florida, Notre Dame, Purdue, Nebraska and others, T Tech included.
He'll probably get every chance to play early, with Angus moving to OLB.

Nothing else really going on in recruiting, but we should hear some stuff after the bowl game, I'll keep y'all posted.
have a merry christmas

Redshirts - per Eric Lund, from Eric Lund's 11th & Mississippi Tailgate

Redshirts that we might expect something from...
Rod Harris -WR, will have 2 years left by my math. A Big WR that could see some more time with the graduation of Dexton Fields, gives Todd a big target with some play making ability

Lubbock Smith- S, will get some reps for sure, with Thorton moving to CB, you'll see him spell Stuckey and Strozier, also agile and quick enough to be used as a nickle or dime back

Greg Brown- CB, supposedly the main CB target from his class, I'd look for him to make a major splash next year, since the CB spots are far from secure and against the spread of UT, OU and tech you'll need more corners

John Williams- OG, I don't know he was 335 pounds as a FR and the only reason he's not at OU is because he broke his foot in HS, I think he'll be getting snaps at one of the guard spots for sure and be very effective. Him and Parish have already had some epic battles in practice.

Duane Zlatnik- DT/DE, came in as a 275 DE, after winning state in wrestling, he was used as a DE and TE in HS, and yes they threw his big ass screen passes, I've seen it with my own eyes. Was more highly regarded than Parish coming out of HS, but Darius had more size and had been playing DT already. SOOOO, he's very interesting prospect, he has size, talent and fight obviously to get some PT and help this team, but the D-line is a mystery to me right now.

You have Jamal Greene, RJJ, Parish and Blakesly all returning and playing inside, and then you have Olitian Onyebule and Laptad playing on the edge, so its hard to tell who will play where on the D-line.
In any event I look for Zlatnik to be a guy that helps us win games before he leaves Mt. Oread.

Josh Richardson- LB, well other than the fact that he comes from unreal bloodlines, with his brother playing in the NFL, I believe with the Raiders. He's 6-4, and runs a 4.5 40 or some dumbass number like that, guy is a freak show. I'm assuming he's been bulking up this year and will be in the rotation next year at LB, and will do some stupid shit, stupid as in good. When Stratton and I went to the recruiting round up last year we were beating off to this guy, he's nuts.

Kale Fucking Pick- QB, obviously, if you didn't know that shit your ass should be shot, because he "can't help that he's amazing at football" Back-up QB, and what he will provide KU with next year, is a great backup to TR, but more so, he'll help KM make a whole shitbag of cash, because he can focus at WR and not do double duty. Kale will have some competition for the starter spot after TR5 leaves, but he isn't worried about it. He's going to be good, there's a reason he's the first guy Warriner called when he got the OC job and why he was rated as the 7th best Dual Threat QB, per rivals.com. Plus my sister tutors this guy.

Trevor Marginelli- OL, a mean son of a bitch. His dad speaks Italian, and did so with Mangino on his official visit. Me and Litigation Jesus watched his highlight film in my old office and we were beating off to it, because he was just cleaning dudes. He is interesting, for a couple of reasons, he could be a RT or a C, but I think Thornsen has the center spot locked down and I'm not sure if he can start at Tackle, because of Spikes and Lueken, but he'll play some where on the line, might not start but will provide great depth and could fill in admirably for a couple spots.

Sean Ransburg- RB?, QB in HS, went through the summer program at KU then found out he needed one more class in HS, and will now enroll at KU after 1st semester, kind of a fucked ordeal, but he's from MO, and that whole state is fucked in some way. Was the KC Star's small class player of the year as a Senior, so he has talent. I don't look for him to do much next year, but after that he could, he's got the ability to play the slot, CB, or RB and maybe even be a KR.

Tanner Hawkinson- DE / TE, a TE coming in, got moved to DE, but with Nick Plato getting kicked off the team, he could move back to TE. Let's just say he's a DE, because I think that's where he winds up, great size and speed. Still learning the position, but did win scout team player of the week earlier this year, so he has some tools and if you think there isn't a guy that Mangino and Bowen are going to try at DE, you're out of your mind and probably from Mizz, by the way if you are from Mizz, you suck.
I think Tanner will be a good player for us down the line and maybe soon, but with him being on a unsettled D-line its hard to project what will happen with him.

I think that's about all i got.

Memo to hoops squad / football recruiting

First of all, let me give a shout out to Briscoe for getting HM AA from SI, next year you should be on the 1st or 2nd team, I'm looking forward to you and KM having a big bowl game.

Dear Kansas Basketball players-
Last Saturday, you, mostly you Sherron Collins, upset me, with your unwillingness to guard the 3 take good shots and commit stupid ass TO's.
So this week in practice if everyone could help Marucs learn how to not get his shit tossed and help Kief make a FT.
Also please see to it that Q, doesn't ever foul a guy on a three every again, that'd be great. Other than that, you should all realize that we should start treating Cole like CC Sabathia, and working him like a horse just like the Brewers did. Why, well because he's going to be in the league next year, so give him the fucking ball and let him score or get fouled, sidenote- cole, you should teach Kief how to make a FT, if Cole gets fed, we'll,mostly me will be happy.
The next couple of weeks are HUGE, HUGE HUGE. So we need to get better NOW. I'm going to the Temple game on Saturday and I'll be there for the game against the Vols and Siena, and I'm going to give some of my better performances, because I know you guys need it and someone apparently forgot to tell the students to make a ruckus and jump up and down all game so I'm going to be the jackass screaming obscentities and sweating more than I should, embarassing the people around me and being told I am too intense, too loud, I need to sit down and if I kiss my mother with that mouth, fucking A right, I'm bringing it, I suggest you do the same.
kisses-
rb

Football Recruiting party time-----
Randall Dent- DE, could play DT, verbally commited
Jacoby Thomas - OLB could play DE, verbal
These are the most recent guys to commit to KU

Both are from Texas and both are going to be really good players.
I look for Dent to be a SDE and play inside in certain situations, he is a big guy over 270 already, so he could play early
Thomas gives you options as does Dent, and its really hard for me to tell who will play at LB since we lose the 3 starters and Springer is coming off ACL surgery, so I think Thomas could play or he could RS, just too far out to tell right now, but he will be a player for us before its all said and done.
Of the 2 I like Dent more from a talent standpoint, plus he fills a more immediate need, both are good players.

Quinton Woods- DE, cali Juco, grad in may
6-6 without shoes, so he'd play at 6-7
commited to Michigan out of HS, but didn't qualify, and now he's a Jayhawk
Look for him to come in and play right away

DE- we are still on some other DE's, notably D'quinn Evans from Cali Juco as well, but the staff has made it very apparent they will get to the QB in 09

On the O-
WR- Erick McGriff (yes he's Crime Dog's kid) is going to be a Jayhawk as well, once his mom visits campus with him after Christmas it'll be official, but go ahead and get excited about him, he's a big kid and from florida, so we are starting to really open something up there, him and D'Shaun Sands (yes Tony's kid) are both from Florida, plus we got Rojas from there last year.
If they can continue to get 1-2 kids a year (esp next year) they will get a chance to get some real talent out of there.
WR- Bryant Allen, from St Louis- Would play as a true frosh, probably would return kicks too. the caveat on this kid is that we would steal his ass from those fucksticks in Columbia and he'd be a walk-on for hoops and as a pretty good athelte i think he'd put up a better battle than a bechard or juneman, so that'd be good. He's announcing on Thursday, 12/18, so we could have the WR spot pretty much locked up for 09, with the possibility of saving a schollie for Dewayne Peace, should he decommit from Michigan.
RB- Ronnie Wingo - we are one of his finalists, but so is the Chase Daniel Legion of Gay Lovers, and I think that's where he'll ultimately wind up. But Wingo is very high on Warriner, and anything can happen once you get a kid on campus, and he'll be on campus this weekend, so we shall see. Unless, he really is blown away he'll announce after the first of the year, and I believe he has a visit or more set for January. He is the #2 rated athlete in the nation.
RB- Toben Opurum- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, the big back we missed so dearly this year, this is the guy, I look for him to be a Jayhawk and for that to happen as early as Sunday, he visits this weekend and I believe we are only taking one more back and he fits what we want. How nice would it be next year when Todd wants to take a play off from throwing missles to one of our stud WR's and give the ball to a guy that can bang on some LB's, it'll be great is the correct answer.
Still got a ways to go before signing day in early February, but Mangino and company are killing it and I'd like to thanks Clint Bowen, because that little fucker is working his ass off and the main reason we got the Juco DE from Cali and he's been on some other guys too.
as always

KU hoops the past 25

Having lunch with Kelting a week ago at O'neils in OP, and he raised this question to me, because he's a dick and had no intention of discussing this after lunch he just wanted me to waste time thinking about it, so here it is in all of its glory
discuss

KU All time team of the last 20-25 years
manning
pierce
raef
gooden
hinrich
collison
rex
simien
rush
pritchard
randall
ostertag
vaughn
adonis

piotr to me
Gosh buddy, obviously this is very debatable list, but if you are talking the last 20 years than I would agree with most of your choices. The thing you have to ask yourself is whether you are looking at a team of 10 or what select number of players you are looking for and years?

I would consider putting A Miles in there as well as Langford.
Keith is 6th all-time in scoring at this rich tradition school, while Miles is the all-time dish man at KU. I would almost replace Adonis with A. Miles if someone had to go. Both of them went to two FF4's and Jordan was ballin. I remember I had a 3 point shooting contest with him one day after practice in 1993, first one to 5 wins. Rex was cheering me on, as we both hit our first 3 treys, but Adonis hit his next two, while I clanked mine. Too bad I did not have my camera handy back then. Enought about that. though....Miles had 110 wins and Adonis 113 in their 4 years. AJ is 23rd on the all-time scoring list while Miles is 33rd, but I think what sets Aaron apart is his 954 assists to Adonis's 568 (6th all-time). I think you give the edge to Miles and put him on the list.

I see you threw Rex in there. Loved that guy! Another guy that I loved was Haase. I would also put Boschee in this category, not being biased either. This is a tough one but I would go Rex/Jeff and then Jerod. Jeff, Big 12 All-time 3 point leader and 13th overall in scoring at KU. Give Rex credit, he only played two years. I think it is a toss up between Jeff and Rex.

I would agree with D Manning, The Truth, Raef, Drew, Kirk, Nick, Simien, Vaughn, Pritchard and Randall.

I don't see how Ostertag makes this list. The guy couldn't crack the top 50 in scoring and top 12 in rebounds. Yea, he is the all-time block leader, but the guy was 7'2 and Collison only trails him by 15 while Chenowith is only 16 behind in swats. I might get chastized for saying this, but I think Chenowith was better than the Big O. At least the guy cracked the top 5 in all-time boards and is 27th in all-time scoring.

Now, I agree with Rush ,but I think if you put him in there you have to mention Mario. Not just did he make the biggest shot in KU history, but he was an all-around player. The guy would have shattered the all-time steals record and is 24th in scoring, and is 11th in all-time assists (would have been top 6 or 7). I know, coulda, should, woulda, but the guy was nails. He always wanted the ball in his hands at the end, and might I say he did hit some big shots for KU.

Players that I think would be considered for this list if they had played 3 years: Arthur and Julian

If you are looking at the last 25 years, you would have to mention the likes of Cedric Hunter, Calvin Thompson, Greg Dreiling and Ronnie Kellog.

This is tough, especialy if you are tyring to get this down to the top 10 or make two teams. I would love to discussion about this and actually come up with the top team. That would be heaven!

From me to PZ

I like your Miles arguement, I think as Kelting and I were discussingthis we went Adonis Jordan just based on the fact that he had more todo with getting to 2 final fours and he was a better shooter.Miles clearly a better defender and on a team like this (being thatthere was 14, we were trying to set up a squad) a passer would be goodso let's switch Miles for Adonis.

Keith is a good one, because as you pointed out he had great all timenumbers but he was also the product of 2 Final Fours and an Elite 8which meant he played in a lot of games and also stayed 4 years. Ilike Rush over him based on the fact that he was a better outsideshooter and he could lock down the 1-3 man on any team. And in a wayRush was more of a leader for his team than Keith plus Keith has a bumknee and we can't afford a trainer.

The Big O, hmmmm. Ok I'll tell you my reference on Dreiling isn't realgood so I can't speak to that, but O was and is a TRUE center, andthat's what we need, honestly I'd rather have a Pollard on here and ifthis was say 18 months later I think one of the centers is Cole.

Rex has to stay, right although I see your arguement. Chalmers wouldactually be a better point than Miles or Adonis, better shooter anddefender than both and more clutch, so I think you are on tosomething. When we were coming up with this I think I got caught up a little bitin what accolades everybody got so that muddied it up.

So I think we think of this squad mostly eye to eye.

The thing that makes it hard to come up with a true 14 man team isthat KU has been devoid of a true center that was dominate, thoughDanny played some at the 5.

And then you know other than Pierce the 3 spot has been pretty so so,minus Rush and Keith I would argue was more of a 2 even though heplayed the 3 and if we had a real 3 we beat the Cuse in O3 and haveanother banner.

Then there's 2 types of points. You have the pass first point whoisn't relied on to score with Miles and Vaughn. Then there's the more scoring minded point in Chalmers and I guess youcould group Hinrich in that with Adonis being maybe the best blend ofthe 2.

Before I forget let's talk about Boschee a point that moved to the 2so he's versatile, kind of, he wasn't really good at running the showso he's more of a 2. And while he could make the 3's drop he didn'tprovide anything on the dribble drive and his defense while he gotrecognized for it I never felt it to be that worthy so i'm not surehow you put him on here unless you want someone that is deadly fromthe outside. And if that's all you are looking for then why not BillyThomas and couldn't Rex be your 3 point specialist? Even though hecould do more.Yes I typed this whole thing on my blackberry.

Rock Chalk

pz to me

As much as I hate ostertag I have to agree with you. He is the only true center. I would think cole would be a lock after this year. The guy is a beast!

You could almost do without Rex but I do see your point. He could take it to the hole, shoot the rock and play defense. Keep him.

I just cannot see this team without Mario. Gotta keep him even if he is the 14th man.

I will agree and take Rush ahead of Keith due to the fact Brandon was multi dimensional. He was long and could guard a lot of palyers.

Starting 5
Vaughn
Kirk
Pierce
Collison
Manning
Although it is tough not throwing Raef in there.

Piotr

RB to PZ

The more I think about it and I'm trying not to think about the shot,I'm going to go with Chalmers over Miles and keep Pritchard. Thinkingbeing that Pritchard won a title and Miles didn't plus Pritchard wasso good at playing along side a ledgend so he's be great on this team provide some grit.

I like the starting 5 put I'm not sure we can go to the opening tip without Raef, I mean that stretch in 97, his JR year, when he went for 20-10 in what was it 12 games in a row when Pollard was hurt, was unreal.

But seeing who the other 4 are Collison would fit better with thatlineup, because they would play very fast.
Good input, thanks and let's get together for a beer and a game soonso we can talk about the twins.

Another exchange between and 193950

Dad-
Had lunch with Kelting today and we were discussing who the all time KU team of the last 25 years would include and we came up with the following let me know what you think, are we way off base or not?

Manning
Pierce
Raef
Gooden
Collison
Hinrich
Rex
Simien
Rush
Pritchard
Randall
Ostertag
Vaughn
Adonis

193950's reply

Ryan:You left off Chalmers and Pritchard.
Love
Dad

rb to 193950

Dad-
Pritchard is on there. I think you add Chalmers and drop Adonis.
love
ryan

193950 to me

Ryan:
you need to leave Adonis on there-you forgot newton. your forgot the spotfor the best 6th man-that would be Woodberry. Not so sure about Ostertag. Ithink you should come up with the offensive-defensive teams for footballfor the last 10 years. By the way Reesing doesn't necessarily start atquarterback because Whittemore was the one that started the turnaround. Thetwo corners should be easy, the strong safety should be easy, the tight endshould be easy. Two of the three receivers should be easy. Give it a try.

stupid is as stupid does

Listening to some talk radio while rolling around in the "kids stay away" van and some idiot Mizz fan said he was disgusted that Bobby Stoops ran the score up on them, really?
Why don't you run the ball more then and keep them down, quit your bitching.

That's it really, just how stupid those fucksticks are.

Reesing under pressure scrambles throws no lofts a ball to KERRY MEIER, TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I've been stealing internet at home since August and it stopped working last week so this is a belated blog.
Well last week I said I thought we'd go 2-2 with a hoops loss and a football loss, well fuck me, we should have been 4-0 but that's neither here nor there.
After Brady Morningstar's rockstar like performance on Friday I was all ready to party on Saturday.
Game thoughts-
1st quarter being the eternal optimist I wasn't worried that we threw a pick in the endzone, because I realized we had already turned Chase the Heisman over twice and dominated the clock, so being up 3-0 with first and goal I was really happy.
Not to mention two 3 and Outs that we forced.
2nd Quarter-
Great start with the bubble screen to Briscoe. We knew Mizz would score so them doing that wasn't that surprising.
What was surprising was Rojas kicking some great balls and the ensuing safety from Laptad, who's a guy I've been jocking for a while as a good to better than good DE.
up 9 at half with first ball in the 3rd I was real happy, I thought in my pregame thoughts that is we got this to a 3 possession game at some point it'd be too much for Mizz to come back from.
3rd quarter-
Opening drive eats a little over 4 minutes and results in a TD to Jake Sharp. Then Mizz answers and TR gets a bad break on an INT, so that 16 point lead was down to 3 thanks to the fact that Tinkle went for 2 with 8 minutes left in the 3rd, what a genius, a genius of kissing dudes.
4th quarter-
Well, let's see, we kind of blew over the forced fumble and recovery of Stuckey from the first quarter and the pick, plus his near pick in the 3rd quarter, so let's talk about his pick in this quarter, it was on that dumb sideline route that Mizz runs, invariably so they can protect their fragile WR's, and D Stuck was all over it, what a great pick, but you know what that pick only happens against Mizz, why? Because Chase Daniel for all the dick sucking he got from the local media especially has a puss arm, seriously, how many times have you seen him really load up and throw a dart... Oh you haven't that's because he can't.
so that's that
Mizz takes the leads, woo hoo, we are moving the ball way too well to not score again
So Briscoe who had been the best return guy we'd seen all year bangs his elbow so in a fitting scene Hereford comes into to do Briscoe's job after Briscoe gets knicked doing Hereford's job. And TR 5 scrambles and makes something out of nothing, guy is money like that and hits him for a big strike and 1st and goal.
Instead of running clock and running it a couple of times for a score they go right to KM and get a touch, KU with the lead.
Mizz comes right back down and leaves less than 2 minutes but that's an eternity for TR5 and buddies.
Briscoe with a decent return and we're off.
Out to Sharp who takes an absolute shot, but still gets the first down.
KM
KM
KM
Incomplete pass to Briscoe because he slips
Incomplete pass to Briscoe because of good coverage in the end zone
4-7
27 yard line (or there abouts and no I'm not going to check facts for you turds)
Pressure from the left side, TR steps up but sees more pressure from the middle, side steps to the right and then steps up and flicks it to a wide open KM for one of the most clutch plays in KU football history and a victory.
Yes MU kicks field goal to tie and its blocked but that's on Mizz for mismanaging the clock their challenges and TO's how you lose by 3 and still have 2 TO's is beyond me, but I don't anything those turds do over there.
So this victory did a lot of things, first it caused me to have to work the slant for a DVD of the game b/c Lund forgot to record it.
It got us the drum back.
it fucked Mizz
it was the game all year we have been waiting for, we knew TR5 was going to win us a game just because and then he did.
Game balls-
Everyone, basically
but for sure these guys---
tr5- couldn't lift his arm this week and then goes for 375 and 4 TD's, could have hung his head after the first INT or the second and he didn't he kept his head up and looked down field all the time and made play after play
KM - messed up hammy, I'm sure it was hard to stay loose in that cold weather, but he just caught 14 balls, KU RECORD, and caught the final 2 TD's, made countless plays and found his way out of bounds when he needed to
briscoe, enjoy him because you got about 14 games left of him, same as the 2 above and the next 2 guys
Sharp, I don't know broken ribs and he runs for a TD, has the shovel pass reception the big catch on the final drive and absolutely stone walled a blitzer on the final play, a warrior
Stuckey- I'm ready willing and able to hear of someone that had a better game, especially on that stage against our biggest rival, I have a feeling I'll be waiting on this for sometime
Bransetter- 2 tackles on KO's and made his only FG
Rojas- set up a safety, pinned then a bunch and took Maclin out of the punt return game
The unnamed KU player whose Mother died on Thanksgiving, whoever he is, he doesn't say anything he goes out and battles and then tells the team after the game, if one guy should get a game ball its this guy.
After the Texas game I cried because I was so distraught that we had guys like TR and KM, Rivera and Mort who we're banged up and getting after it all the time and no one else was bringing it, loss after loss, but this victory shows how gutty and tough we are as a team as a program, and then whoever this guy is shows them all up by putting his grief to the side for 48 hours and helps the team focus and win the biggest game of the year, whoever you are, you are the true meaning of what it is to be a Jayhawk.

In support of slavery

Mizzou is.

Last night I watched the "border war documentary" on Metro Sports and it sucked.
I came out of it just hating Mizzou even more to the point where it was difficult for me to sleep because I was so fired up.

The thing that is great about being a Jayhawk, or one of the many things that's great about it, is that we shoot for titles, and mizz shoots for beating KU.

In 2 weeks Mizz will learn once again that they are not going to a BCS bowl, since they are a football school this will upset them, and then they can have another 3 months before they don't make a final four, so business as usual.

All week, I've been ready to concede this game on Saturday, they have so much speed, our D is weak, no Jake Sharp, not sure about our playing calling, people are banged up, the reasons I believed we are going to lose are countless, but then something happened yesterday.

My aunt, the hot one as all of you that have met her call her, is married to a guy with a really pussy hand shake, like scary weak, and he likes Mizz and he's not to loud about it because he hasn't had anything to bark about since I've known him.
So I told him congrats on his impending victory on Saturday and he wasn't so sure that Mizz would win, I thought, fucking douche, of course you will, and then I realized maybe he was being an arrogant prick, and I thought well shitfire I'm even more pissed at this fucking guy.
So the game Saturday doesn't mean shit, KU is going to the Insight Bowl and Mizz will probably wind up in the Alamo or Holiday, but what is important is shutting them the fuck up.
Kicking their ass would make me insanely happy and I think its gonna happen.

I will not be attending the game, because I am not a good fan, obviously, so for those of you that are attending, good luck and have fun, my weak ass will be on the couch, warm.

Gobble day (40th post)

Things I am thankful for KU edition---
That Bill Self is our coach
TR5
KM especially his hands (if that sounds gay that doesn't bother me, nope)
That all the lame KU fans are not attending every basketball game, making it a lot easier for me to go, and in the end I only care about my happiness so this is good.
That we aren't scheduled to play Syracuse for well ever
Cole's progress into an outstanding big man
Tyshawn Taylor having the lighest shoes ever (if you are stupid that means he's really fast and I'm sorry that you are dumbass)
TWINS

to all of Hawk Nation, have a sweet fucking ass turkey day and here's to a win on Friday and Saturday

p.s. I realized you could search the blog the other day so I searched "fuck" and every post came up, so I wasn't about to end the streak, everybody has to have something that seperates them from the rest

Cole 45

Just a quick post while I am on hold.
This guy, well he's going to be on the Jayhawks in the NBA video, and probably pretty soon at this rate.
He's a legit 6-10 to 6-11, he's very fluid, which is a good word to describe you if you are tall and want to make money playing hoops.
And the fact of the matter is that you can't teach height and the NBA is starved for true centers and that is exactly what this kid is.

If he finsihes the year averaging 15 - 10 and 3 blocks, he's certainly going to be projected to go very high.
This will be interesting to see how he progresses and if he stays.
At any rate on behalf of 1024mississippi, I want to thank you for playing a $ game last night, job well done.
1 down 3 to go
Let's get another W tonight.

4 games this week, giddy up

So your defending National Champs and the reigning Orange Bowl champs have a combined 4 games in the next 6 days, so that's fucking balls awesome.

Allot (Reals) has happened since the last post.
OU teabagged Tech, which was nice.
Mizzou beat a ranked team in hoops, yawn.
K-st hired a guy as old as McCain.
I met one of the greatest Kansas Basketball players of all time.

So let's move quick.
KU is heading to the Insight or Independence bowl per CBS and ESPN, I'd bank on the Insight bowl against Wisconsin, but we won't know for sure until after the Mizz game.

Playing missery in Camerohead, which I'm way over, and ALLOT KU fans are getting rid of their tickets, so look for a pro AIDS crowd, good times.

If KU can beat MU with Brian Luke at the helm, then they sure as shit can win on Saturday, and I think they will, but that's how I get down.

SO CBE tonight and tomorrow. This will be a really good early season barometer (I never thought we'd use that word here, but hey between fuck and barometer we got our shit covered)
Looking forward to seeing what the squad looks like with 6 days of practice and not playing in the Mecca of college hoops.

Last night I went to the Hall of Fame

(this just came across via e-mail) -- Thought for the day: "Cockgobbler" is one of the finest words around. Use it in reference to a Tiger at least twice a day this week. Preferably in face-to-face fashion.

so last night.
I met Danny Manning, Cole, Twins (and anyone who says they can tell them apart when they aren't in their unis is full of shit, they are the same person X 2) Sherron, fake Mario Chalmers and Coach Dooley, real good times.
All the guys we're really down to earth and sweet enough to sign my ticket stub, so that was awesome, looking forward to supporting them this evening after I clown some Grinders.

So be good Hawk's and get ready for a balltastic week.

Triple threat

1st-
Had lunch today at Applebee's, and had probably the biggest douche ever server.
Highlights include but not limited to
RB- How's it going?
Douche - "well i'm at work so it could always be better but at least I have a job so that's good"

also dude asked to see my ID on a $9.88 ticket, fucker.
I'm thinking this is further evidence that if I don't cheer for you athletically and you have earrings, you are a douche

2nd - (the banner is next, so scroll down if need be)
Our football team has now lost 2 commitments, one was a dick, the other was lazy so while it isn't the end of the world, in the best interest of keeping the blognation educated in all things, KU, I figured I drop this on you.

Insight Bowl is pretty much a lock and its also pretty much a lock that Chase Daniel is going to fuck us up Transformer style, and no I don't know what that means but the last time I blogged about forceful anal sex I got an earful from the secretary of the blog headquarters. (see my roomie)

3rd- Banner
Awesome, it still is weird, like I wasn't sure how I was supposed to get involved in the game against Florida Gulf Coast, which I bet would be the easiest place ever to score ass, you can't be smart and go there, its not possible.

Having the team go to one side of the floor and watch the whole thing was really cool, the vide per usual was awesome and it was very cool to know that no one else was doing what we were doing at that exact moment.
You get chill when you think about it because it was so unreal. From our seats I looked past 13 Final Four banners to see our 5 National Champions banners and that's a hell of a rush.

As for the team, I'm going to withhold judgement until they play at least ten real games, but there is something there and with a stable/bad ass point and an anchor, you give yourself a shot everytime out.

PX2, P squared, The Truth, Jayhawk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdzIavJbp-c

I'm sitting on the couch last night trying to figure out why the heat didn't have Chalmers in at the end when he was creating shots for his team and getting to line, while still being leaps and bounds better than that little white PG Quinn from ND and I saw this highlight.

So I'm not going to ruin it, but I should have know this happened.

Let's get shit straight

"I had to deal with 13 players who were devastated, and in each of them in their own right, they thought they were responsible," Calipari said. "I had a staff that felt devastated. I had a campus, a city. People cried in this city. If we had won, there is no city that would be impacted as much as we were."Lawrence wasn't as impacted. That's their fifth national title. Here in Memphis, we all needed this. We all needed that. We deserved to do it. So what we're at Memphis? So what we're not in the BCS? We had the best team."

From ESPN

If this blog was a person it would be the kind of person to show up to a fight by the oak trees after school with an AK, why, because this blog doesn't fuck around, this blog will kick your ass, fuck yo bitch and then tell you about it, kind of like Tupac.

So let's break down the amazing quote from Calamari. That guy is a fucking tool, what a douche.

It's odd that his "dream team" didn't win, oh that's right because you built a team of street ballers and you put them through that rigorous schedule that is C-USA, so why wouldn't they be prepared to play Kansas.

While your degenerate team was busy slamming balls off the court, delaying the game after an oop and running into Cole like a thug, we were getting ready to party all over your ass and after Mario made it rain, we basically teabagged you for 5 minutes straight, you're whole squad and all your fans, so deal with it, you had to eat our nuts.

Why don't you concentrate on coaching your squad and quit reliving the game you lost.

on a whole different tip-
while waiting for the replay of the KU game on Metro Sports, I caught some Mizz postgame and whoever they were talking to from the Zou, thinks they are going to win the Big 12, right.

in case you missed it I thought it should be pointed out.

halftime party time

TWINSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Looks like I am right on again in my predictions, just call me Cleo the crystal ball person.
Twins: more points than fouls, check.
Play some D, check. We always can get better but the D looked MUCH better.

I told the roomster that we'd win by 40. Check on that shit, too.

So obviously its right after the game now and no I'm not going to change the title of this blogsertion, because its my blog and when your squad balls out all over some squad you can name the blog.

Cole - he was way toooo talented for ESU, but he did look good. I like him showing a low post repertoire and an outside J plus he still does that silly free throw motion.

Sherron ron ron- Bad ASS, Roy, would you like to have Collins instead of Lawson, huh. And hey you atheist Coach K, how's Paulus.
I'm loving Sherron telling the whole nation how his as taste all year long, dude is gnarly good.

Twin- Played EXCEPTIONAL, POG, Marcus, loved his game today, guy makes plays, he is smooth and is only going to get better, he played about 100 times better than a week ago.

Kieff Records- He's going to be good and should continue to get better throughout the year, he has the tools and he hasn't yet showed his range but we did get a glimpse of some of his versatility and perimeter skills.

TI aka Releford aka attended more games than any KU recruit ever- Played good, I'm not ready to start sucking his dick yet, but he was in the right place a lot of the time and he seemed to get more comfortable as the game wore on

Fake Mario Chalmers aka Tyshawn Taylor- Well how this guy was not ranked in the top 15 is beyond me, he had 3 no looks that I can count he can get to the tin whenever he wants. He showed a good shot at late night. His D was good and he has that "it" factor and he makes other s around him better

reed- spot up shooter, the sooner we accept that the happier we will all be, anything else he does is gravy or italian dressing or A1 whatever you want to call it.

Brady aka Pajamas- he can ball out a little he is very white like Kelting but he has some brother in his game, I think he'll be a good contributor for this team and he can obviously shoot the pill, and he's kind of a little vroom vroom to him

hard to be too upset with tonight, but I know NCHCBS will tell them they aren't shit and they haven't even won a game that counts yet and get them ready for Sunday.

Congrats to you, fan of the best college basketball program in the land, the program is strong and they showed it tonight, I'll be totally honest with you I might be gay for Twins and Taylor, plus throw in the Sherron mania and Cole.
(blogger note- if anyone ever refers to Cole as "the sheriff" on here, you won't be welcome on here, honestly I doubt there is anything I can do to ban you but I will not want you here and I'll probably have to tell the entire blog nation that you hit old women or some shit)

Sleep tight little Jayhawks, tomorrow we will welcome one of the best PF's to head to Mt. Oread in awhile.
Thomas Robinson, looking forward to you making your Jayhawk status official tomorrow.
Rock Chalk

glorified practice plus a bunch of other random thoughts that you should be glad I am sharing with you

Here's what I'm looking for tonight---
Will Q replicate his performance from last week or will he frosh it up and struggle.
Will the twins have more points that fouls, I say yes.
How much does the white duo of brady and reed play?
do we stop people on D.

honestly it'll be a blowout and i'm sure there will be some plays that make it worth while but I just want to see the team progress.

Big Blue Monday -------------------------------

Went to this last night and other than the fact that the last people there won tickets to tonights game, it was kind of a waste of my time.
Here's the deal, it was Keegan, Bukaty and Brady McColon or whatever his name is.

They said precisely nothing, seriously nothing, Keegan bitched that he doesn't have access to the locker room, shockingly no one cared.

Then they predicted that Sal Capra would start at a OG spot for us next year, which scared me. And also told us that we should be happy that we are going to a bowl and we should be happy if we make the Bog Dance, hey way to shoot for the stars fellas, seriously was a borderline shitty beat writer your dream?
Unreal.

Keegan was really good last year so I'll give him a pass.
Bukaty is an ugly Erin Andrews, but aren't we all, chick is wicked hot.
And Brady McMoron, he just sucks.

None of these turds mentioned Sherron Collins at all when discussing hoops, so that was cute and gained them a shit load of cred.
I think next time I should do the BBM, it would have been better for all involved.

here are the questions I asked and how I would have answered them

What was the mood in the locker room after the game against the corn?

Well, TR5 was pissed because he got beat up while he watched our D look like the shittiest D ever, they are last in the country against the pass.
Mangino is pissed because we are better than this.
TR5 is calling Anthony Collins and telling him to fuck off, because he could use him this year.
And generally everyone is bummed out that we for all intents and purposes blew our shot to play for the north, that wouldn't have been fun so who cares.

Do you see Hatch moving inside next year on the O line?
Yes, he'll start at LG and Spikes will play LT and Lueken will be RT, I'd guess John Williams will be our RG, not Sal Capra, at least I hope so.

What is a reasonable goal for hoops overall?

Make the dance and I say sweet 16 anything after that is gravy, I'd say a 3-6 seed is within reach. Does that seem vague to you, its better than they should make the dance, Really, great answers guys.

One last thing.

Looking at the KC Star this morning, Briscoe has a better YPC and more total yards than Maclin, and as far as I know both of Briscoe's parents love him so he's got a lot up on Maclin, but let's all continue to suck his dick because he returned a punt for a TD, whoopie fucking doo. Just thought I'd point this out.

Briscoe should be over 1100 yards this year
Sharp should get to 1K on the ground and 1400 total yards

TR has more yards than Colt McCoy, in case anyone cares.

Looking forward to the game tonight.

Not a good weekend to be a Jayhawk

Let's see Charles Gordon breaks his ankle, Hinrich tears his thumb all to hell and is out 12 weeks, which means he isn't getting traded this year and will rot on the pine in Chitown.
Then let's see there was Saturday, TR5, KM and DP all got nicked up, Adrian Mayes left the game again and the corn took it to us.
so that was uplifting wasn't it.

On top of that we lost our top LB recruit for next year, to the corn, whatever.

This coming weekend we have a chance to F up the whole BCS by beating Tejas and we start playing hoops games that count.
Wednesday is the first day of the early signing period for hoops and KU has 2 studs that'll be Hawks officially in T Rob and EJ.

What we learned in Lincoln, we are banged up and our O line and D line are not so good.
Briscoe is what top 10 WR's in the country, maybe even top 5, you tell me 5 that are better.
TR5, is well, he's the best we have ever seen. With at least 15 games left in his career maybe more, he is already the greatest passer in the history of KU, he'll be over 10K yards before its all said and done, that is unreal, and he should have over 100 TD's passing plus whatever he has rushing.

Props to Gale Sayers for being named to "greatest college football team" by SI, guy is a stud and always nice to have a Hawk get some good press especially on a weekend like we just had.

Xavier Henry, will never announce where he is going to school, he will simply show up at either Memphis or KU and live off campus, take all online classes under the alias "1 and Done" then he will show up at Late Night as a member of KU or Memphis, so no need to wait for an announcement, just go to Late Night and see for yourself.

Thoughts from row 8

Before we talk about the new Hawks, lets give a shout out to Mario Chalmers, maybe you remember him.
But tonight he set the Heat record for most steals in a game, go ahead and let that sink in. More steal than D Wade has ever had, more than Eddie Jones who was known for his D, more than Tim Hardaway, although that's not that impressive.
Kudos Chalmers, you are off to a great start keep it up.

New School Hawks-
Let's talk about the game as I believe it will pertain to the rest of the season.
Mario Little, who will be a starter and counted on to do a lot, did not play due to a stress fracture.
Twins, did not make the Canada trip so they will take some time to jel.
Kief and Marcus both have talent, that's very apparent, they are skilled.

Sitting mad close was a blessing and curse in a way, they are great seats and I got to sit by Cindy Self, Morningstar and Teahan's families and Joc Crawford, which was cool
It was kind of a bummer because you could see some things you might not see from a different seat or TV.

Collins, WOW, he knows what is ahead of him and what he needs to do, lead. He was telling the twins where to go and every other frosh for that matter, and encouraging and coaching, he was very intense. He's always been solid, but you can tell that this is HIS team, and he wants it to be successful.

Releford, was a little shaky, but he had a look on his face while he was playing that you could tell that he was having a great time but remaining serious, I saw him ask questions on multiple times, he wants to be better and he will be a good player for us.

Before I forget, all of the frosh, would look at Self after a bad play, and from what I could gather, it was they WANT to be coached, they WANT to be better, they WANT to represent KU. This was so encouraging to me, you never know how they will act or care and its clear that they all understand what it means to be a Jayhawk.

Taylor, or fake Mario Chalmers as we were calling him last night, Piotr and I discussed him having the "it" and I still think that. He made turnovers, 5 of em', but Chalmers, Adonis Jordan, Vaughn, and Kirk all did the same thing when they were little, and just for the record me and 193950 talk about this anytime KU has a frosh PG.
Taylor did have some good moves and is good / great in transition.

Brady, is athletic and balled out a bit last night, played good and I could see him and Reed giving us some quality minutes off the pine this year. Both need to get a little bit better at D, but the whole team does so I'm not going to sit here and throw daggers from the couch. It was good to see both of them shine a bit after red-shirting and riding pine respectively last year.

Aldrich, didn't really do anything, but I predict he will at the very least be the all time leader at KU for draawing lane violations with his silly FT motion. He will get better and have better days if for no other reason than NCHCBS (national champion head coach Bill Self) will make sure of it.

Trying to figure out who I have missed... you can't think of it can you.
I didn't forget him, But Q Thomas, was the guy last night. Plays hard, smart and kept going. 10 points, 6 boards, hit the charities and got to the line. With the depth we have if he can go in and play hard and draw fouls and hit from the stripe, he will be invaluable to us. People are saying he's Darnell or Richard Scott, either would be great, but I like his play.

The most important thing of QT playing the way he did, is that it will ratchet up the pressure on twins. They have another week to practice and then another handful of days before the games count.
The first 2 real games are at home and against inferior competition also Little should be back in early December and this team can get going.

Its very weird and different not getting the "NEW YORK NEEEEEEW YORK" before the game but we'll never forget those guys and you know what when you are a freshman at KU you have to do something big in your 4 years if you want to be remembered forever and the best way to do that is to throw up some banners, and last years Seniors did that and this years frosh are working towards that a little bit everyday.
Relax and enjoy the growth.

These are your defending NATIONAL CHAMPIONS - KU preview

The following is an e-mail exchange between and my pen pal from Poland. Yes the blog is multicultural.

polsih-
SUp? So how fired up are you for this season? I'm assuming you have been in
Lawrence for the last couple of days, sleeping in your car by the towers to
get the twins autographs, right?
Anyway, I was looking for your opinion on this year, I'm going to try to get> up a preview on le blog.

I'm think sweet 16 is a good goal, first round bye in the conference
tourney.

Other than that, I'm going to be really curious to see if Collins blows up, and goes league, someone is gotta leave if Self signs 3 guys like he is trying to do so the most logical is Collins or Cole. other than that I think it'll take me at least 5 games before I figure out which twin is which, one of them should have to wear a fro wig and a different colored shirt just to make it easier for fans, but maybe this will work well against other teams, i know missery and ksucks will have no idea who is who, so that'll be fun.
hope all is well

R Bauer!
Yea....I am pumped bro!? It is a different?excitement b/c we really do not know what to expect.? That is the exciting part of it.
I've been reading my media guide and still reminiscing about last season. I love this years>poster with all the boyz walking through the Phog....it's hella tight!?
I'm going to rewatch the Villanova game on Wednesday night, can't wait!? If your bored, feel free to join me.
First and foremost, I love your blog! Keep that shit up. It is under my favorites and I love reading it while I'm on the can.
Secondly, this season is going to be a roller coaster I have a feeling. Obviously it reminds us of the 05 squad with JuJu, B Rush and Rio coming in as Frosh. I remember their first game against Idaho St., thinking that this team might ot be bad, and then being so frustrated with all the TO's and the 61-49 loss to AZ the next game. Starting the year off 3-4 and then> gelling as a whole.? I think the first light I saw was during the Cal game in KC when we were struggling and then Vinson came in and we started to play as a team. Then of course the UK game, where we just anally raped them at AFH. Then, even though we lost to MU, with Moody clanking the freebies, I saw how good Mario was going to be. Can't forget that memorable OU game at home, Chalmers was just nails. I loved that year b/c we grew into men by the end of the season. Yeah, we lost to Bradley, but we just weren't up for that game. It was just one of those days. I really think this team will be the same, in it's own way. The one thing that we do have is obviously a big man in Cole and a leader in Sherron. I do think our schedule is a lot of tougher this year than it was back in 06. Yea, AZ was #7, Nevada #20, UK#19 - overrated at that time, OU#18 and Texas #7 and #8. The only true road test we had was the can of whoop ass that Texas opened up on us in Austin when they destroyed us from the tip and ended up winning by 25. Then of course we got them back when in counted in the Big 12 'Ship. This year, we are going to get tested and get tested early, before Big 12 play. Which is a great thing. We get Washington, who is a top 30-35 squad, then we either get the Cuse, who again is a top 30-35 team, or we play Florida- who is #19. Then we get a month of teams that we should beat. Our first real test will be that road game in Tuscon. Yeah, AZ ain't ranked, but we will be going into what could be a hostile environment. Any time you go on the road, it's never a gimmie. Then 10 days later, we got Tenn at home. The fieldhouse should be rocking, UT will be a top 10-15 team. A week later will be the biggest test of the season. Going into East Lansing, where we have not played since Magic was the PG for the Spartans. This will be a HUGE game for our guys. MSU will most likely be ranked in the top 10 if not the top 5. We will see how far we have come and how we can compete with a damn good Izzo coached team. At this point in the season I can see us at about 11-4 or 12-3,at worst 10-5.
Then, we will have the conferece season, where the South is going to be pretty good. OU and Texas will most likely be top 10 teams all year long, Baylor will be tough as will A&M. I see us getting about 11 or 12 wins. I think the tough non-con slate will prepare us well for our conference. I think the North will be weak, as usual. I forsee us getting a 1st weekend bye in the Big 12 Tourney. I have a feeling we will either be a 3 or 4 seed. OU and Texas will be 1 and 2. Then again, don't count us out on on grabbing a 1 or 2 seed! If the South beats up on each other and we take care of business, we could very well be winning our 5th straight conference title. I think all this will depend on how the Frosh develop. We do have a strong core with Cole and Collins. Don't count us out on getting to the Big 12 'Ship again but I see us maybe going out in the semis.
I really think we should be able to continue our tourney streak and make it for a 20th consecutive year. I think AZ's streak will either be snapped this year or next year and we will take over with the most consecutive appearances. Go into the tourney with 7-9 losses and probably get any where from a 3-6 seed. I could see us losing in the 2nd round or the Sweet 16. I think most fans will take this coming off a NCAA Title, losing 8 players and 83% of our scoring. The one thing that we do have going for us this year, which we did not have in 06, is leadership. Two individuals who contributed and played in the Final Four.
I think the Morris twins could absolutley become beasts. Watching them at Late Night, they remind me of Gooden. The way they walk, their game, their moves and they are the first set of big man or men that can both go inside and outside since Drew and Nick. I did not really consider Wayne an inside outiside type of player. Yea, he could hit the 15 footer but these guys just have something about them that I have not seen since Drew, especially Markieff. He has the perfect body, 6'9 235lbs.? I think he could become unstopable. The talent on these team is there, Releford is a slasher and great defender, Taylor is a stud- the kid has that "it" factor. Great floor general, passer and he knows how to play the game...ala Russ Rob except with more talent. Thomas and Appleton will be role players that will get their 4-6 points a game. Maybe more like Darnell Jackson type of numbers his soph campaign. I am interested to see if Little can stay healthy. I think he kind of has the body of D Rose or a Frank Williams. He could be a big part to this team if he gets this stress fracture healed and is as good as advertised. I don't really see Reed, Morningstar or Teahan getting much playing time. I could almost throw Appleton in this bunch, but I really can't put my finger on it. I am juiced for Tuesday to come and see how we play. I wish Little was healthy b/c I would like to see more of his game. I think we will get Xavier this week. With a class of Robinson, EJ and Xavier, the 09-10 squad is going to be sick. They will most likely be preseason top 5 and could very well be picked to cut down the nets in 2010. I don't see Sherron sticking around. He will get his 15-18 shots a game, put up his points and leave for the money, as long as he stays healthy. Otherwise, I could see him sticking around for his senior year.
Anywho, this is more than you probably wanted to hear but you did ask my opinion:)? I would love to watch a game with you this year.

Super stuff, agree very much.
I think Little is a guy that does have a lot of talent and anytime you have a guy that can get his own shot and get to the tin whenever he wants and with a young team that could be key.I'm looking at it as making the bumps bumpier, but I think its a blessing. Baptism by fire, and it'll give more minutes to TR and Marcus.
That michigan state game reminds me of when we played them in detroit in the great 8 and chenoworthless got owned and Mo Pete got all nuts on us.Here's the 4 things I'm most interested in seeing this year
1- how do the fans react when things get rough. KU fans are the most passionate in the country and when things are going well everyone is happy but you know how it goes when things go wrong, so it'll be interesting.
2- how does Collins do this year with an increased roll and a decreased supporting cast. How will he respond. His talent is immense and he's a bulldog, hopefully he sees this year as an opportunity, ifhe just buckles down and kicks ass for 5 months he'll never have to attend another class and he can more than provide for his kid. I think he'll be up to it.
3- Taylor, you nailed it, the kid has "it" and he played in such a successful high school program and you can never have enough winners.I think he'll play a lot, be vocal and keep things from getting too chaotic.
4- the twins, I think when you mentioned gooden that is a decent comparison, I think the thing that has me excited is they know each others game so well, that'll help. And they both represent the new PF,gone are the days of a banger, these guys can collectively play the 3through 5 and make plays. You know them stretching the floor out to the arc is going to give Collins and Taylor a lot of space to operate and drive and also TR when he's in there. Since the knock on him is alack of an outside J. So a spread out floor could enhance his ability to drive. We'll for sure get together for some games.

Let me know what you are hearing on X, there's so much shit out there right now, I'm trying to take it all in, but I feel and have seen enough to think that X will be at KU next year, so needless to say we should get sleeping bags and go crash at the towers to get his autograph since dude is crazy good.
His game kind of reminds me of this guy

I'm mean very similar shot, right?
anyway let me know what you're hearing I think this is gonna happen, which I called before Late Night but even I didn't see him doing the Alma Matter and the Rock Chalk, that was excellent, and its not really his fault, weird things happen to people when they step into the Phog, its magical.

(i did not include PZ's reply to this, just because there was some info that will get both of us in trouble, regarding X. Let's just put it this way, there's reason to think X is going to be at KU, which means there's reason to think I will dance with no pants)

also got this little nugget from kelting on the squad and basically, its unfair to Kelting to have him below the insane knowledge from above, but it would also be a blogtrocity to give kelting his own entry on this topic, but here's what the kid with red hair has to say....

I was asked by RB to share some thoughts on the upcoming basketball season. This surprised me for two reasons. One, it's still football season, why are we talking about basketball? Two, I get most of my thoughts from Bauer, why does he want mine? And to be honest with you, I don't know what I'm going to add.

So here it goes. I haven't read one single preseason article. There, I said it. It feels good to be honest will all of you. I realize that Late Night was a few weeks ago and we have an exhibition game tomorrow, but I haven't been thinking about KU basketball. Depending on what polls you read, we are ranked around 24th in the nation. This is something that we haven't been used to in recent years so I decided to look at preseason rankings for the last several years. Did you realize that for the 2005-2006 season we were unranked in the preseason polls? Then I got to thinking…Bill Self remarked that this team reminded him of our team three years ago (that 2005-2006 team). Let's take a trip down memory lane. Giddens gets stabbed, my all time favorite Puerto Rican KU basketball player transfers, we beat Kentucky in the Field House by a ton, Moody misses some free throws against Missouri, KU starts1-2 in the Big 12, we open the Booth Family Hall of Athletics (real nice Clark), we say goodbye to Jeff Hawkins, Christian Moody, Stephen Vinson on Senior Night (still upset that Hawkins isn't playing anymore), Max gets 60 retired, we go on to share the Big 12 title with Texas, KU wins the Big 12 tournament over Texas, Julian has a SICK 360 dunk at the end of that game, then we lose to Bradley.

Well, I gotta think we'll see some of the same with this team. Hopefully the Morris twins won't get stabbed and hopefully Moody isn't coming back to help us shoot free throws, but look big picture. That season had a lot of ups and downs. A talented freshman class of Chalmers and Rush gave us an idea what the future looked like. We started that season slow, but we were able to rally and share the Big 12 title and win the Big 12 tournament. This season we'll see a large, talented freshman class grow. We'll see if some JUCO transfers are able to play at this level. We'll see if Cole is the leader and ball player we think he's capable of being. We'll see if Sherron is good enough to carry a team and if he's good enough to play in the League. I think we'll be a better team without Witherspoon. We'll have loses that piss us off and wins that make us believe, even if only for one night, that we can make it to the Final Four. To be honest, we'll likely finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference, and get knocked out in the Sweet 16. But this team will be fun to watch, we'll just have to let them play, let them mature and cheer them on.

And remember, no matter what happens this year…we got our championship.

dribble dribble

just in case anyone missed it, 1024mississippi.blogspot.com would like to give kudos to Drew Gooden.
The other night he yanked down 2o plus boards and tonight he dropped 20 points. Impressive to say the least.
I always remember him taking over games his junior year and getting us back to the Final 4 for the first time in way too long.
Kudos to you Drew, now please rep KU and shave that weird shit off your face.

look for the hoops preview tomorrow

Lookin' Sharp

Seeing that LJW and KCstar both used that title, I might as well too.

So I did decent on my predictions, TR did not have 4 TD's and KM did not catch 9 passes, however, in Stephen A Smith voice, I was solid

More than 1 shovel pass, yep, they ran one where a guy was all over Sharp in the first half and he got about 6 yards on it, then they ran the one that went for 40 plus to Sharp and took the ball to the 4 yard line.
D gets a TO, check mark, Josh Freeman, makes getting turnovers easy, I think he wants to fuck, check that get fucked in the butt by Russel Bronsen, otherwise why would a DE have 3 INTs, in his career and all of them have come against Josh the most amazing QB ever Freeman. If you watch JF, he's like a robot with low battery, he looks stupid, is stupid and basically gives the other team ample opps to win, good times.
Double digit W, just barely, BAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLS, Princess is lucky we didn't lay 70 on his ass, we could have, and I wish we would have.

I'd be surprised if Queers and Allies wasn't lining up outside the football offices today after the pounding we put on those limp wristed, rainbow wearing losers.

So I just got done re watching the game on DVR, best invention ever?, and I thought while at the game we looked good and then I realized we looked, really good.
The blocking was great by everybody, WR's included and even TR5, going and laying a hat on some bum ksucker.
The front 4 got sick pressure, and I'm pretty sure James Holt was replaced by Dwight Freeney the way his black ass was playing yesterday, guy was insane.

Before I forget, I had a REALLY interesting time on Mass st after the game. Went to the Lyon, which is always superb and threw some darts and then as I was heading to Keno's I ran into Anthony Davis, RS FR CB, who played well in late action yesterday, really cool guy, very nice, my sister tutors him, but he was really cool and was with Richard Johnson JR, who apparently prefers to get called "Real" like that guy from the VH1 reality circuit, whatever, I asked him how his knee was doing since he didn't play yesterday he said it felt a lot better and that he'll be playing next week in cornland, which made me excited, because healthy large black men excite me, wait what?

At Keno's I had to drop some turds, a by product of the 15 pizzas that were present at victory tailgate, anyway, the lock on the dudes john is broken, so there's this HUGE sign that reads "Lock broken, PLEASE KNOCK, Thanks" So I'm in there thinking I'm glad I did this now instead of on K-10 and some dude in white shoes, because that's all I saw, flings the door open until I start yelling and then closes the door, so I'm determined to do 2 things at this point.
1- take me sweet ass time, like wipe my ass until its operating table clean
2- figure out what dude has white champion shoes, from target

So as I stroll out I run into this bald douche bag, I mean a real life cock chugger, that has a K-st shirt on, and I look at his shoes and drop a "figures you can't read, asshole" and go on my merry way, so further proof that k-sters can't read and that's why I can be so oppressive towards them in this blog, because you can't get the net on your tractor and they can't read so I think I'm safe.

Predictions for the Sunflower shootout

The D will get a turnover
KM will haul in 6 catches, actually its going to be 4 catches or 9, no in between, hoping for 9
Sharp is going to get OFF for 150 yards
We'll run the shovel pass more than once
we'll run that dumb screen pass more than once
Go ahead and bet your first born that TR5 is going to drop 4 TD's on that ass
KU will win by double digits
I will breathe easy knowing that we are bowl elegible

To those of you attending the game----
Bring it as Eric Lund, from Eric Lund's 11th & Mississippi tailgate, likes to say 1st down is 3rd down
And its ok to scream and make racket before the ball is snapped, this is kind of exhausting but not really, so do it
Try to not be like kelting, aka, don't be so fucked that when you get in to the stadium you are no good to anyone, he's working on this, so you should too.
the following statements are encouraged

1- Josh Freeman uses soul glo, its some brother hair deal, this is a fact
2- prince is gay
3- where's jordy
4- josh freeman loves dudes
5- hell yes TR, another TD
6- ballgame

Tell us how our ass taste

So what's a Jayhawk to do right now, wait for us to pound K-st on Saturday, wait for hoops exhibition, Tuesday, wait for Self to finish up another top 5 recruiting class, yawn.
Instead we can check the Hawks in the NBA dominating.
Last night Chalmers went for 17 points, 7 assists and 8 boards, and only 1 TO.
Beasley, k-st'er, went for 9pts and 4 boards.
So wreck it, Beasley got less rebounds than a point guard, wait a 6-7 PF that isn't strong can't rebound, smooth.
Hopefully after the game Chalmers asked the Beas if he wanted to look at his ring.
last night brings up another good point, when mario and shady were entertaining ladies at the rookie symposium why did they have to cover for beasley? should beasley's bitch ass had to of covered for them.
Let's see both of them went to a final four and won a national championship, they also won the conference, same conference as beas, and won the league tourney, the same tourney that beas got knocked out in his first game in.
So while I think it was dumb they were hanging with beas anyway, his one eye open ass should have been covering for mario and shady, also Beas hasn't been on SI, either. Just sayin.

Oh shit, what's that, Shady, who didn't even start and he dropped 11 points, 2 more than beas, and 15 boards, that's 11 more than beas, if you are keeping score at home.

I'm pretty sure Bill Walker didn't play the other night for the Celts, but I know that the NBA Finals MVP, Paul Pierce, Jayhawk, did, he dropped 27.

Why is it that guys from KU get recognized as the best player at the highest level of competition...
OH I know, because we're fucking Kansas and we invented the game, we are College Basketball, that's why, because we don't let someone punk us in our crib 24 years in a row, that's why.

Getting really excited for the hoops season and watching the team grow, and wondering who might be the next Jayhawk to dominate the league, could be Sherron or Cole and Tyshawn Taylor in time, plus the double dunk twins, hey remember that, that sounds like a t-shirt.

i know this sounds like a pro KU anti-kst blog, as it should, but it should also be noted that Hinrich, who gets his jersey retired this year, as he should, had 15 and 7 and shot the ball better than D rose, yeah the same guy that cried on 4-7-8, but because he lost, while I was rocking tears of Joy.

Just to make sure that beas, sucks anus, Collison had 7 points too and he doesn't even look to score.

So instead of thinking that our football team doesn't know how to tackle, remember that we own roundball

I think we are going to be Tinman, Lion and Scarecrow

Since I only have one roommate, I know no one else knows about this kid over here (look left)
(Blogger note- I jsut figured out how to put a picture in this bitch, so watch the F out)
Do you ever get the feeling that everyone is out to get you? Well I don't usually but this little kid here is obviously out to get me. Here's the deal that little get up that he has is $50, i've spent twice as much as that on little baseball figures that are sitting in Kelting's basement, so the money isn't hampering me from getting it.
Its the fact that I'm not five years old, so I am unable to enjoy this deal.
This is more than a Halloween thing too, if they made this for short fat guys, I'd wear this shit all the time, like to every football game, doesn't that thing look warm? it does to me! I'd wear it out socially, it wouldn't hurt every chick I hang out with thinks I'm a huge prick and well I don't have friends and when I forget Kelting reminds me, so I can't see me having this thing as a bad thing.
I bet I'd meet a lot of people, I bet I'd get to take pictures with random people, I even think I'd get a free drink or two out of the deal.
SO WHY WHY, I ask? I need this thing, I'm going to figure out a way to get some extra blue material and have someone make this shit for me, and then I'm going to rock it all the time, it might even encourage me to lose a pound or two because if you are going to roll around the most boring city in America you need to look good as the Jayhawk, I'm sure all the douches in OP will think this is me being immature and not growing up, well they can come over to my crib for Halloween and I'll give them a eat a dick on a bun with mustard, because I'm a nice guy and mustard is good stuff.

If I had to raise 25K, I'd sell my car

Here's what a loyal reader of this sweet ass blog had to say, sorry that everyone else was too busy to comment after the worst beating KU football has endured in some time...
Todd,
Good post on this weekend's game. Let's go ahead and call a spade a spade.
1) Clint Bowen, Bill Young you are not. All I can hear is Leach signing (in Shaq's voice) Bowen, tell me how my ass taste. and then on backup vocals all I get is Bill Young from Southbeach signing: Mangino you can't do with me. Bowen, tell me how my ass taste. Kansas can't do without me....What a complete ass raping. sad

2) I don't care what the score is, KU will not win another game this year if we continue to give up on the run. We CANNOT win with passing alone. No wonder TR5 was forcing the ball into tight spaces he has no business trying (reminds me of Prom night). For christ sake, what else is he supposed to do? the o-line can't block, we have become one dimensional which exposes the line like Paris Hilton on a GGW video and if he doesn't do it, who will? Not TR5's fault.

Also, look on the bright side. Looks like Tennessee will be looking for a new hc this offseason and Mangino was rumored to be on the short list. When we finish 5-7, that should take care of that. Your welcome for posting. Try to mix in a happy pill every once in a while. You are fucking depressing.LJ

I'm Todd, in case there was any confusion, I'd like to be TR5 / KM, but I am not smart enough to morph it into a cool nickname,

Here's what LJ is saying, I am depressing, well yes, I am, I see me naked everyday, its not cool to be me lately, especially if you date it back to Saturday.
Do I blame Bowen, let me think.... YEAH, but not entirely, last year we somehow managed to never get injured it was unreal, and this year, we've got a DT who quit because he was injured all the time, we've got another DT that is on the groung all the time, another DT that couldn't walk himself off the field on Saturday, we have a OG, that is always getting dinged up, you've got a starting corner getting the ambulence to drag his ass off the field and a starting wide reciever who was our top reciever coming back, in number of catches, who missed the first four games and you can argue has done really nothing productive this year.

So I blame Bowen for sure, because his cupboard was not bare at all, but I also blame the spread offenses that we keep seeing for our struggles.
At the end of the day we NEED to get some athletes, speed kills, ask Ohio State, and we are sorely lacking in that area.
In addition to having a lack of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, we have basically shoved our dicks between our legs on O and become super easy to read, stack set oh shit its the screen, shovel pass, we get it and so do other teams.

We need to come out and run the ball, eat some clock and keep the D fresh, plus once Prince gets cute and stacks the box, we can let Briscoe and KM get loose, then we'll win and TR5 and KM will go bang the entire student body, or at least the really hot portion of it, they don't need slump busters.

Listening to Mangino at his press conference, he's red hot pisssed and he's ready to drop a cleveland steamer on Josh Freeman's high school musical looking ass. Purple is running their mouths again and when you have Grimmace at the helm, its expected.

I get these feelings from time to time, I did not have this feeling last weekend, I did have it before we played UNC in April, and I have it right now, that we are going to Kick some fucking skulls in, yeah you heard me, break some orbital bones, fuck up the way dude looks, and lay it on real thick.
If there's one thing this team is, its resilent and I look for them to come out and make some plays on the D, and for TR5 to return to his old form (not that he hasn't been himself, but JC himself would have been pressing on Saturday) and rack up some big yards, KM looks right, Sharp is turning into a real consistent threat and I look for Quigley to come in and hammer out some yards against the weak run D of the team that is led by the coach formerly known as Prince.
So don't forget your power towel, bring it to every game, and get ready.
