Kansas - big stage, big game

Well the stage just keeps getting bigger and brighter for tomorrow.
So far this week KU has defeated the number 3 team in the land on the road, taken over sole possesion of first place in the Big 12, had the number 10,11,12 and 13 teams lose and are no less than 24 hours away from the Border War.
So a KU win will give them a strangehold on conference championship number 52.
And move KU up in the polls to who the hell knows where.

First things first - take care of business on Sunday. The old barn on Naismith Drive is going to be rocking and they're giving away license plate frames for whatever that's worth.

Kirk Hinrich

Sunday is the day that for awhile I thought would never happen but always knew that it should happen.
Kirk Hinrich is getting his jersey retired on Sunday and I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone more excited about it than me.

Growing up I always dreamed of playing for KU and the year I would have been a freshmen at KU was the same year that Hinrich was a Freshmen and he just happened to be about 10 inches taller than me, faster and a better shooter, so I was pretty much SOL.

No one is really more deserving than Kirk to be in the rafters. As a freshmen when he held Jason Williams of Duke in check until he got called for some bull-shit fouls, we would have won that game had Hinrich played more minutes.

Some of my favorite Kirk memories are as follows-
His Junior year when he sprained his ankle and made some Jesus like comeback against Stanford, that act alone pretty much set the tone for KU to make their first Final Four in 9 years.
No way does KU go 16-0 without Kirk's junior campaign, like when he bitch slapped Kareem First Team Rush in Allen Field House and then hit that enormous 3 ball in Columbia, he was a threat as soon as he got over half court.

As a Senior he was just a stud again. To be so talented and solid on both ends is what makes you great instead of good and in the West regional that year it was very clear that he was a stud on both ends.
Shutting down JJ Redick and holding him to 1-11 in the Sweet 16 and then turning right around in one of the most exciting regional finals I remember, dropping 28 points against Arizona.
That victory to get KU to their first Back to Back Final Fours, did a lot things.
1- it helped erase the loss of 97
2- it did erase the loss from earlier that year in The Phog when Zona went nuts on KU in the second half.
3- it was awesome to go to back to back Final Fours.
4- it further established Kirk and Nick Collison for that matter as truly one in a generation college players.

I digress though, while dropping 28 points against Arizona, Kirk never lost sight of what separated him from other guards, guts and a willingness / desire to play D.
To be a guard and to block a Jump shot as time expires is very hard, and he did it like it was nothing.

While Kirk's on the court achievements are many, its the respect he warranted and received from others whether it be in the media or opposing coaches, see Eddie Sutton going out of his way during a game to shake his hand.

There has been a lot of discussion between fans and in today's LJW about whether or not Kirk deserves to have his number retired. And to that I say it doesn't matter what anybody on some message board or blog has to say, KU decided he deserved it and I agreed with them.
Bill Self has mentioned its a common sense thing that he belongs and I agreed. While he might not have been a first team All American, he was the 6th player selected in the NBA Draft meaning he's pretty freaking good.
He was all league his junior and senior year, years that the Big 12 sent 2 teams to the Final Four each year, hell even Mizzou made the Elite 8 in 2002 (But they've never made a Final Four and probably won't ever)
Kirk played against some of the best and always came out on top, for the time in which he was in college there weren't many that were better, for that reason alone, he belongs.

I'm really looking forward to one of the guttiest, headiest and most talented players in KU history being raised to the rafters.
Kirk is one of the guys that I plan on telling my kids about, he's to me what Jo Jo White was/is to my dad.

Kirk- You're a hell of a Jayhawk.
Congrats

Tradition never graduates

Fucking Griffin's dad is a gay, bitching about the refs missing calls when at Texas sorry you missed the memo that you wife is an ugly dumb bitch.
Not only is your one son a concussed mother fucker your other son is devoid of talent but a good fouler.
Honestly why the fuck did we give a shit what he had to say, all I know is that everytime that cow Holly Rowe got her fat ass on he mic, we started balling out, so maybe more Holly is good.
Class of 88 said it best when he said she loves buffets.

There's a growing sentimet especially from the Litigation Jesus that Mario Little sucks and he's not doing anything to help himself lately. That foul he made when the guy barely had control of the ball was atrocious. I've over all the BS about him playing out of postion and all that other noise. Marcus is theoritically playing out of position and he's been doing things lately. Little has such a smooth mid-range game he needs to step his shit up if he could give us 10-15 minutes and score 6 points and get 3 boards that'd be stellar. If we would have gotten that last night we would have won by even more.

Props-
To Tyrel for hitting a big 3, which I called much to the surprise of everyone at the Newsroom. The guy had missed two 3's before that and was something like 5 for his last 19 from behind the arch and he just steps right up and nails that shot, BIG.

Props to Fake Mario Chalmers-
makes a whole mess of 3's, gets some run out buckets- does okay at the line in the clutch.
Tyshawn put the team on his young back early and carried us in the first half, without him we don't win, he is good and is going to be great before its all said and done, great job.
And good for him, he's bee struggling a lot lately but the dunk he had in the second half I think was huge for him it was a weight off my shoulders type moment and I'm happy for him.

Cole- WOW-
15 points - solid
4 blocks - big
0 TO's - big
20 rebounds - STUD

The thing that won't get discussed much about Cole is that he basically told OU that the lane is my house. He had 3 fouls that I remember in the second half and all of them were, you aren't dunking and letting all your inbred fans go nuts, you get to the line and shoot. He should have had a couple more blocks but Big 12 officials are so inconsistent they don't know their whistle from their dicks.

Sherron-
Is an All Ameerican
Might have the hugest balls ever- pulling up from 30 and raining 3's- unreal.
He was a stud- he carried us in the second half-
KU made 3 baskets in the final 10 minutes and all of them were 3's by Collins.
WOw
I'm just not sure what the hell else can be said here

Bill Self is the best coach in the country - and this is not up for discussion.

I'd say that Capel can suck my cock but he'd like- faggot Duke grad- that guy can go fuck himself. I really like how when asked if not having what's his ass was a factor in them losing and he said no comment, good one dick. I'm sure the rest of your team really appreciated the fact that you figured you would lose, dumbass.

i can get down with a weekend like this

Big Props to Kelting for DVD duping mania- I've done it before and I hated it.

Friday gave us a no hitter thrown by the KU baseball team- I remember how much fun I had going to those games when I still lived in Lawrence. Getting to a game or two is on my to do list for sure.

Early reports out of JR Day for football are good.

Had a chance to speak with KU's likely starting MLB and he said his knee is coming along nicely.
He said he'll start running in 2 weeks but will not play in the Spring Game but will be full force in the summer and ready for kickoff in the fall.
The look in his eyes of pure joy about being healthy and having his chance to shine was sooooooo great to see, really something, great kid and already built like a man.

Hoops team took care of business and put themselves in a spot where they could do something worthwhile.

Big props to the fans - mostly the students for showing recruit Lance Stephenson the love.
Prop to Cole and Sherron for continuing to play great.

Props also to QT and the twins- I really think the twins are starting to get it and I love it. QT is coming around too and played some nice minutes today.

I had to get some autographs for Kelting after the game- which wasn't a problem- the fucking retards we're a problem.
There was some douche dad with his loser kid (picture 6-5 ish kid with curly red hair braces, glasses and hiking shoes- he looked like the kind of kid who would dominate me in World of Warcraft but I bet he couldn't make a layup if his loser life depended on it)
So douche dad makes it a point to ask, Kleinmann, Aldrich, QT and the Twins how tall they were when they were the age of his dumb kid.
The players were pretty nice about it, but they should have replied "I was less gay than he is"
Unreal this asshat probably thought of that line all by himself- dick.
Then this piece of shit lady dropped this golden nugget of douchery on Cole with the "where do you get jeans that size? I can't find any for my kid?"
Huh? Dumbass bitch, I see your kid, I can tell he loves dudes and he's not that much taller than me and newsflash you stupid hooker- Cole is a lot taller than me.
Cole gets his jeans at the buckle in case anyone cares, unreal.

Also- don't get your hat signed that's weak ass noise.

Saturday

KU - NU 3PM

Saturday is an interesting day because it presents a lot of potential.
See -

Lance Stephenson is visiting. Lance is a 6-5 guy built like a man and he hails from Brooklyn, and I love Brooklyn.
He's the #9 rated recruit in the class of 09 according to Rivals and #1 according to other services.
So it'll be interesting to see how that all goes, I can't really comment on it or discuss it because he never does interviews so I have no idea what he is thinking or where he is leaning, if I had to take a guess, I'd guess KU has a better than 50% chance at landing him.

*Here's the double weird thing about Lance Stephenson if he were to come to KU, we would need to have 3 people leave KU or give up scholly's for him to be on scholarship, so that leaves the following scenarios that are likely.
1- Collins leaves - has a kid to support- although that's being rather presumptuous. I think the chances of him leaving are higher than 50%
2- Cole leaves - I think this is gonna happen. And this is okay because Withey will be eligible at the semester next year
3- Someone transfers or there's a situation like with Moulaye Niang where they have an injury that makes them unable to compete any longer.

Also on Saturday, KU football will be having its annual Junior Day. Last year Junior day was a Zoo with all the animals.

(note while I'm typing this the KU-Indiana game is being dubbed- and I am remembering how worthless Sean Pearson was)

Anyway Junior Day is going to be HUGE for Mangino- he's got a myriad of studs coming in. Usually Junior day doesn't yield an immediate commit but it does help and I expect tomorrow to do that.

Remember this will be the first Junior Day where the new facilities are up and open. Also this will be the first Junior day with Bill Miller on the staff and he has a good rep for recruiting and him and Sims are certainly upgrades from the two guys before them.

-I'LL SAY IT NOW, THE 2010 CLASS WILL BE THE BEST EVER AT KU-

Onto the key to tomorrow-
The game.
KU has to win tomorrow to keep alive any hope of winning the conference and you have to win at the Field House.
Looking forward to it tomorrow. All tomorrow does is set up the future to be brighter in a number of ways.

RB & Piotr - dominate Lawrence- MUST READ

So we get to Lawrence and head straight for the basketball office, first Piotr has to take a leak and this leads to one of what will be many cool happenings, we just role right into the auditorium where Self does pressers, and his podium is still there from earlier in the day, see above- we partied on it, it was really cool to stand behind that if I was Self I would have said this week in practice we are going to work on "Blue to Blue" its called the same team and no turnovers, it'd be good I bet Bedore would love me dropping great quotes all over the place.

We make our way to the basketball office and as you go down this hallway its a who's who of college basketball, I mean I didn't even know what to do, its the best trip down memory lane I've ever had. Wilt, JoJo, Adonis at the Final Four in 91, Roy, it was just nutty. I've never walked so slow in my life and turned my head faster than I did. And its in places like this that I am speechless which is rare.

And here's the benefit of going with Pitor, he just acts like he owns the place we just walk right into the office like we're there to see the mural, which we were. Its just bizarre to stand there and watch Case, Ballard and Barry Henson walk around and we're just staring at this mural (see above) (However they should be a practice right? But then later you think about it and realize that Case not being at practice is a good thing- although we could let him scrimmage and get everybodies confidence up, just a thought)

And then we peak into this conference room and this was my fault because I felt naughty, like we weren't supposed to be there, and I don't mess with KU Basketball. But there's just a ton of Big 12 trophies (regular season and tourney) and a huge poster board with Iowa St notes- which would have been really interesting to see.
Due to construction, you can't get from Wagnon to Allen without going outside, this is bumming us out now and leading us some wild goose chase, there might be a silver lining to this, but right now all I'm doing is opening random doors and hoping to see something cool.
And seriously- why don't you get a name plate if you work in the athletic department? Now they just have a piece of paper taped to their door with their name on it, its kind of ghetto.

Practice is not in the Phog- its over at Horesji. So this leads to Piotr wanting to leave, me wanting answers and some game planning.

If the game was to get lost in the Wagnon center we would've won.
So we go back up to the basketball office where Piotr gets answers. The problem is that we are confused because we saw Henson, Case and Ballard up in the offices and not at practice. So we just camp out by the south entrance to the locker room and wait. Piotr trys to get in Horesji to no avail and I have to let him back in the Fieldhouse, although he did get to see Teahan go to the potty, if he was a 14 year old girl this would have been all he needed.

Side note we met a camper whose group name was "Erin Andrews Loves the Hardwood" so that was fun not as cool as my group when we're the "Rusty Trombones" or "24 and 23"

So we just wait and hang and Piotr lays out his barrage of things to get signed. And some team manager / laundry guy tells us that no one is going to sign- he'll prove to be wrong. Then there was some real solid dude who gave us all the scoop which was solid.

Self- not happy. But you know what he was cordial enough with my boy and told us to have a nice day. He's a solid as they come. We guessed that practice was lackluster and then he has to make it over to Hawk Talk and answer stupid questions from small town fans. But he could have big timed us but he took a second to talk to and sign for Piotr and that says a lot about him. How anyone could be upset about him being at the helm is crazy (truth be told, I'd like it if they pushed the ball up the floor a bit more- just so 193950 won't lose his mind, just saying)

Mitch Holtus- looking at Sherron for a free safety for the Chiefs- doing games for big 12 network, what? He was a nice guy although we still have no idea what the hell he was doing there.

Coach Townsend- went out of his way to let us know that the whole team (minus the guys who look alike and the guy who has the same initials as the best gas station ever - not Kum N' Go- had to lift and it would be another 45 minutes before they came out, which is really solid and a great reflection on KU Basketball -

Sorry- Danny Manning just came out and signed an auto for me while Piotr was in the bano- further proof that peeing is overrated. Although Danny was a little bit guarded since Piotr had a whole gang of papers on the floor, we look sketchy.

Anyway it was real solid that Coach Townsend told us that.

Piotr just stoned out by Cole, which was awkward.

UPDATE- totally picked Cole off in the parking lot- he was not pleased, watching Piotr ask for a 2nd autograph, was hilarious.

Also the big guy had ice on his lower left front shin, probably from kicking ass.

Oh yeah, we're in the Burge parking lot now, why?
Well because KU security asked us to leave and then Polish wanted to just stay and the dude came and looked for us and walked us out, so that was really weird. We're guessing its because Manning saw all of our stuff and thought we were autograph dealers, which he had every right to, also I told him the autograph was for my sister named Ryan, and back off I was intimidated, rarely do I hang out with number 1 draft picks.

Pajamas told me it was cool that I wasn't going to elbow him in the back, so that's good. But the only reason I was talking to him was because I thought he was with Sherron- who looks a lot like Tyrone Appleton in a dark parking lot- fyi.

Just met Jeff Withey, and he's a cool ass mother- wearing a scarf and tall as all get out.
He said he going to wear either number 5 or 10 and asked ME MY OPINION- so he knows- I told him 10 like Hinrich. Was a real nice and down to earth guy, already one of my favorite Jayhawks.

Cole was the last one we got- but I liked doing the update thing after he shunned Piotr.

We finally got Collins- he didn't say a word- not 1. And Piotr forgot that he needed 2 autographs from him instead of 1 so he ran a 4.68 - forty to catch up with him and get another autograph- which was funny.

So we're finally leaving the Burge parking lot and Piotr gives me the Chinese or American option for grub- anyone who has had the "where should we eat discussion" with me you know how this will end.

Jefferson's it is.
Hot wings and burgers- nice.
So we tab out and we're getting ready to leave our way fun evening.

When well what'ya know here's Danny.
So this presents a cool moment in multiple aspects it gives the guy who was in the bathroom a chance to get his Manning autograph and gives me a chance to let Manning that I'm not an idiot.
So first of Manning remembers me, which since he was less than thrilled to see me at the Field House, this is not a good thing. But Manning doesn't realize that I have made a lot of mistakes in the last 27 years and gotten in trouble a lot so I'm pretty used to this.
Him and I have a brief conversation in which I reveal that I am Ryan and the jersey was for me and that I was rattled by his awesomeness and he was cool with it and we chatted for a second, so he was actually a nice guy.
However, him showing up meant a lot more to Piotr, I think he might have peed himself a bit, he even threw out the "this is a calling" or something like that, hilarious.

refreshing

Looks like the Jungle Karma that Self got helped on Saturday.
This team is becoming more volatile. Had they lost by 35 on Saturday, I wouldn't have been surprised and I wasn't surprised that they came back and won by double digits.

Watching a couple of games today and really starting to realize that there's a whole mess of parity in college hoops.
Where KU has an advantage is that they have an experienced PG and a solid if not studly Big guy.
Obviously a lack of athleticism on the wing and youth are holding them back.

This is going to be a good week for the Hawks. They have 2 winnable games in the Phog.
And a real shot at winning the conference.
As of right now they need to have a good week of practice and take care of business.

Plus Born Ready Lance Stephenson is "scheduled" to visit on Saturday, I can't comment on this because its too huge for this blog.
Kick ass win on Saturday, right up there with meeting Derek Fine at the Johnny's and talk to the best QB in KU history.
And yes he's gotten taller.

Sunflower party and football has arrived??

Let's hit on some football stuff first.
The team has been fashioned shirt that simply read "WIN THE NORTH 2009" - my informant on campus tells me that it is a blue shirt with white letters and a red border on the letters, sounds like the coolest shirt ever to me.

KUAC is pushing the shit out of season tickets, as they should. First they run a special that you can save the $50 processing fee if you order by mid January, then they extend it to the end of January. Now you can win money and other shit by buying tickets.
And you can get tickets on a payment plan.
And they have set up cheaper and different options to get tickets.
its pretty genius.

Plus I'd be willing to bet that more students than ever put in for tickets, which is bad ass.

Then yesterday the kicker shows up in my mail receptical. Single game order sheet.
You want to see the last game of TR5, Stuckey, Briscoe and KM ever in Lawrence - $90/seat
You want to see the 19 errrr 2008 Heisman winner - $90
dirty (and those fucks will pay those prices too)

So that's exciting.

Ed Warriner and Brandon Blaney both got promotions (and probably raises) so that's REAL good because those guys recruit like there is no tomorrow and Warriner can coach his balls off.

Good times- Spring Game 4/11/9

HOOPS-
Just beat K-st. Cole has a new mask.

bud selig chugs cock

http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?storyId=3902907&top

Honestly- I know this is a little off the Jayhawk path, but fuck it, its my blog and no one reads this piece of shit anyway, so here it is.

Bud Selig is a ghey. First this tool fucker turns his eye on the fact that people are shooting up more often than than the twins doing something dumb. Then he decides that its soooo bad and now he's mad.

So when he's not ending All Star games in a tie he's now retroactively mad at people for breaking rules before they were rules.

So Fuck him. Way to judge A-rod for doing something before it was banned, while you sit in your ivory tower and make 18 million a year and fuck up and disgrace America's past time. I fucking hate your guts you piece of shit.
You're a coward and pussy.

The fact is that those tests were supposed to anonymous and then its so conveniently leaked right before spring training, real fucking cute- you cunt.
Fuck you Bud Selig, you have too much power and you're abusing it. I'd like to put a javelin in your ass, bitch.
Out
(ps- this might be one of my best blogs ever- just saying)

Mother F'n Karma

So Billy Ball is going to be on Rome today, and get us some Jungle Karma, SOO looks like we are going to Teabagging some mildacts on Saturday.
So that'll be fun because the 14th of Feb is like my favoritist day ever.

sherron collins

(after further review- Sherron probably isn't the sole person to blame, it was just easier for me to blame him than to blog about the guys that look a like. And is anyone else worried that the twins might actually graduate from KU, that's going to make my degree look like shit)

Congrats here we are in February and you're still fucking it up.
Congrats now you and Moody can both go down as dudes who missed 2 FT's when it mattered at Mizzou.
Congrats of not even hitting double digits.
Congrats of having such little control of your team that we have a guy pick up 3 fouls including a techincal in the first 39 seconds of the 2nd half, that was cute.
I really hope you go pro because I'm sick and tired of watching you piss talent down your leg.
Congrats on losing the conference title.
Fucker

reasons to hate mizzou

1- they like slaves
2- they annoyed the piss out of us all year thinking that Chase the Heisman was going to lead them to the title
3- they have cheaper gas prices
4- they are labeling tonight as their national championship
5- they love the meth
6- because if you wanted a blow job anyone would give you one
7- they have a group of students called antlers and you have to fill out an application to be in it (unable to confirm if you also have to play soggy crackers to get in, i'm betting yes)

We could go on and on, but I'd rather just drop our collective testicles on em.

Cole Aldrich - is he ready

Is he ready for "freakin" status?
So far the only guy on Mt. Oread that has "freakin" status is Kerry Freakin Meier.
Mario Chalmers had it too.
Todd Reesing doesn't have it because he's just TR5.

I'm not sure but Cole has a shot of getting Freakin added to his name.
18 boards on Saturday, owning Hansborough in the Final 4 are a pretty good start.

If Cole goes all double double at the wal mart super center arena and keeps the Hawks on the winning path- he just might might have a new middle name.

a play that embodies Kansas Basketball

I'm a firm believer that when you put on the crimson and the blue with "KANSAS" on the front its not about wins and losses its about wins and playing like tomorrow you won't be around.
Today we saw a very clear example of this.
In the second half of the Ok St game- Brady and Tyrel- two guys that are constantly hammered on for not being as good as Mario Chalmers and Brandon Rush.
And while neither of them are tha, they played like Kansas players are supposed to play.

In the second half there was a loose ball and both Tyrel and Brady went after it.
It appeared that by their determination if they didn't come up with the ball they might only see the floor over at Robinson on a pick up game.

Very rarely do you see two guys who aren't supposed to be anything special doing something special, going all out.
When the scrap settled and Tyrel had a run out layup (sort of) it was one of the gutiest Kansas plays of recent memory.
It wound up being a 3 point play and a very symbolic moment of what happens when you play for the letters on the front rather than the back.
Playing basketball for the University of Kansas is something.
Playing basketball the Kansas way is something else.

2009 Football Recruits

Let it be noted that of the 24 verbal (known commitments, there could be a surprise or 2, but I'd guess they will most likely put that last scholly in their back pocket and save it for next year) commitments, EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS SIGNED SEALED AND DELIVERED BY 9:59 AM CST.

That's called getting it done and having high quality kids, kids that know what it means to say something and then do it. Kids that are being held accountable, this is a good thing.

This class will rank ahead of Mizzou and way ahead of K-st. It filled some needs, mainly DE's that can get to the QB (Young, Sellers and Woods), a big back (Opurum) and defensive secondary (Kande, Linton, Kelly, Rubles, Patmon and Beshears) a bonafide playmaker (McDougald) and OL and DL depth (various)

Enjoy my little recap- It's a great day to be a Jayhawk.

Who's on campus already-

DE- Kevin Young - Olathe, KS - on campus

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uibPYUjTic

Kevin Young gives KU something they needed badly, pressure off the edge. Luckily for him he got to be very close to the a sensational tailgate last year and luckily for us, he's already been on campus for a couple of weeks. Letting him get aclimated to the day to day activities of major college football and getting to go through Spring ball plus the added time he'll get in the weight room. He will have a chance (chance being the operative word here) to play early, but he should be a very solid player for KU. his video is from his Junior year and its pretty wild, kid is quick and has a big frame.

CB -Calvin Rubles - Juco - Tyler, TX - on campus

Did he go to the same high school as Aqib Talib, yep. Does he want to be like Aqib Talib, yep. Will he, doubt it, but let's be honest Talib was unreal while at KU. Rubles does give the secondary such much needed depth and coming from Juco he has already played against some good competition, he will have a shot at starting at one of the corner spots and should be in the rotation next year for sure. (No we're not getting into how this effect Daymond Patterson, that's 2 blogs in itself)

RB - Deshaun Sands - Cocunut Creek, FL - on campus

Touchdown Tony's kid. Cool, first commit of the class and also is on campus early. He's quick, he's got some jitterbug to his game and he put up some pretty stupid numbers in high class Florida high school. Some have mentioned that he could be an option as a KO returner, hmmmm. Not sure he'll get carries next year since we have Sharp and I'm guessing that Crawford will play worth a shit next year, but real excited to have this kid in the fold.

QB - Jordan Webb - Union, MO - on campus

Other than shunning Mizzou to come ot KU, then to have Mizzou fans vandalize his house and he's still here, he's gonna be good. He's small, but so is some other guy that wears #5. Won't need to play this coming year, just get better and then duke it out for the QB spot in 2010. Is a dual threat guy that played in the spread in HS and put up a lot of numbers.

PLAYERS WHO WILL BE IN LAWRENCE THIS SUMMER

D.J. Beshears - WR/CB - Denton,TX - signed LOI

88 catches
1,450 yards
21 TD's
enough said.

He's been told by the coaches that he'll start out as a CB but don't rule out some slot WR for the kid, he obviously has HR potential. Was originally commited to Iowa St. He needs to add some weight as do almost all of these guys, but he's an intriguing prospect and one that I'll follow over the next 4-5 years ( I get that I'll follow all of them, tee hee)

Julian Jones - LB - Lawton, OK - signed LOI

Built like a brick shithouse and alledgedly will knock your face off, so that's good, kind of a diamond in the rough guy that wound up being pretty highly rated. He has a definite shot to play early as in next year. But sounds like the kind of guy we need laying wood over the middle. Is and OLB as opposed to and ILB.

Darian Kelly - DB - Girard,KS - signed LOI

Safety or possible rover. Lot of talk of him sliding down to play an OLB type roll. With so many spread teams out there, I think you'll see a lot of KU playing 2 LB's and 3 safeties, and he'd fit in there. He got some offers to play Div 1 hoops but his future is on the gridiron. He'll knock you right out and won't think twice about it. OU was interested in him, but he commited very early. Good kid that is very athletic and tough, will fit great against spread teams and with our secondary.

Dexter Linton - DB - Arlington, TX - Signed LOI

Teammate of Christiam Matthews, a highly regarded safety with 4.42 speed, might be able to play some nickle back and free safety. Good ball skills, a lot like Kelly just not know as much as a head hunter but he can play.

Tom Mabry- OL - Althoff, IL -Signed LOI
Lowest rated recruit, but also an OL that Warriner recruited for over 2 years, so there's gotta be something there. Was all district in St Louis.

Chris Omigie - WR - Arlington, TX -Signed LOI

His coach said he'll block you into the stands so that's good because Mangino let us all know that if you don't block you don't play. He's a tall WR 6-5 to be exact and has deceptive speed, his words not mine, I don't know what the hell deceptive speed is. Should be in the next wave of WR's as it'll be an act of God if anyone takes snaps away from KM, Dez or J Wil.

Him and Kale Pick should become buddies.

Toben Opurum - RB - Plano, TX - Signed LOI

#3 Rated fullback and one of 4 - 4 Star recruits according to Rivals.com.

let's see he's a big back who can catch the ball out of the backfield and had offers from Notre Dame, Florida, LSU and others and he's a Jayhawk. He's got a chance to play early, but he's gonna play at KU, no doubt about it, couldn't find any film of him on Youtube, but I've watch his tape and its pretty good, we'll be hearing about him at open practices in the fall for sure.

He's doing a live chat on KUsports.com tonight at 6PM too.

Tyler Patmon - DB - Cedar Park, TX - signed LOI
second commit, and was the guy that J'Ney Jackson targeted first. Made all district while only playing 3 games due to I believe a shoulder injury. With the track record of our secondary and staff, if they target you early, and you sign up, I like you, so I like this kid. He is from Texas which always helps due to the level of talent he has gone against. He's a corner, not a a safety at all too small, corner all the way.

Tyrone Sellers - DE - McCook, NE -Signed LOI
Gatorade Player of the Year in NE.
Fast off the edge, rated a little bit higher than Kevin Young and played for a power of a program in NE. Real excited about this guy, between and him and Biere we are getting talent from a state that generally doesn't let talent out, so that's a good thing. He's a DE all the way, he's a speed rusher all the way, once he gets bigger he can play every down, but I could see him being used situationaly early in his career. ( There's a great picture of him at his signing where the audio guy has a NU hoodie on and a look of this guy is going to ruin some of my Saturday's classic, stupid cobs)

Travis Stephens - DT - Brenham,TX -Signed LOI
Coaches told him to get as big as he can, he played DE in HS, he's quick, he'll be a speed rusher in the middle, hopefully like a McClinton, exciting times. I think he's up around 280 already so getting with Dawson will be very important. Could be a real nice cog in the middle of the DL later.

Huldon Tharp - LB - Mulvane, KS - signed LOI
Other than having a really cool name and being in state, well he blew his knee out but is fully recovered now. He should be ready for the the summer workouts. He would have had a shot at going to some big boy had he not hurt his knee, had offers from Stanford and Illinois anyway. Too hard to tell where he'll fit in once he arrives couple with the recovery. He is a solid player and very smart, helped coach his HS team after the injury, so that tells me he loves football is selfless and wants to win and that's a Mangino guy right there, so I'll take as many guys like him as we can get.

Jacoby Thomas - DE - Texarkana, TX- Signed LOI
Listed as a DE but could be kind of situation that Holt had last year where he rushes from the DE spot and also plays some OLB. But that could change and he could have a more defined role. He stands at 6-3 and around 225, so he has the size to either stay at OLB or more down, we'll see. (this might get a bit repitive, but a good get, they all are, what a freaking great class)

Quinton Woods - DE - Bakersfield, CA by way of Michigan - signed LOI
Juco 4 Star- Will start from day, will make and impact from day 1 will improve our pash rush from day 1.

Quick first step already has good size. It sucks he couldn't graduate at semester but he might not be a Jayhawk if he graduated at semester, one of the power houses would have been all over him. As it is, he's a Jayhawk and should play a pretty decent hand in the third straight bowl win.

QB- Christian Matthews - Arlington, TX -Signed LOI

Compared to Pat White when he commited as far as style of play. He's teammates with Dexter Linton and they commited on the same day, which was fun.

Prinz Kande played against him and said he's a lot better passer than people give him credit for and he's a really good athlete.
A lot of people are assuming he'll be moved to WR, but he'll be given every chance to win the QB spot post TR5.
Wherever and whenever he finds the field he'll be a guy that we'll want with the ball in his hands.
OT- Riley Spencer - Hesston, KS -signed LOI

Good footwork, needs to work on leverage and keeping his ass down, his pass blocking is way behind his run blocking based on his HS's offense. In state guy who has been out with a shoulder injury, should be back soon on it though. He's up to 290 pounds. If you remember last year, there were a lot of pounds on those guys, so this is encouraging, because you can't teach size.

DB/ S - Prinz Kande - Signed LOI

Probably the crown jewel of this class. A ballahawking Safety, that played for the #1 High School team in the country last year and started all four years, which is very rare, he's real battle tested and his adjustment should be more minor than most. I could easily see him playing next year in the secondary. Hopefully, Stuckey takes him under his wing and makes him even better.

WR- Erick McGriff- Florida -Signed LOI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUMcwuoLTeE
One of my favorites from this class, a tall WR at 6-4, he'll be a nice big target for Kale Pick or whoever follows TR5.

Yes he's Fred McGriff's kid, which means there's a good chance we'll be meeting Tom Emanski, which means we'll all be better at the fundamentals of baseball, so that's exciting. Stealing this kid out of Florida, is unreal, I'm real excited for him to get to Lawrence, he's got a chance to be real good.

Gavin Howard- OG/OT - Owasso, OK - Signed LOI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em8SKGiIeM8

Weighs 295 now. Was impressive at the KU camp and that's when he got his offer and he jumped all over it.
Stands at 6-5, I think he's more of a OG but I'll let the coaches decide that.

Randall Dent DT/DE- Signed LOI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwWdJ_7shu4&feature=related

Somehow related to Richard Dent, at least that's the rumor. When he visited this winter he had a couple of bags of KU stuff as he was leaving Allen, so that was a pretty good indicator that he was coming to KU. Would not even answer the phone when Florida called, because he was so sold on being a Jayhawk, STUD. He'd listed as a DE, but I wouldn't be shocked if he played inside, I think that's very possible. Good motor and quick, so could be a difference maker anywhere along the DL.

Bradley McDougald S/WR/DB - Dublin, OH - Signed LOI

the 4th - 4 Star to commit to the Jayhawks.
He's a stud, really no two ways to cut it. He was ticketed to go to the ohio state but wound up a Jayhawk. Great job by Warriner to get this kid.
He's a real humble kid, who will do some things at KU.
I gotta believe he's going to play WR, and I gotta believe he's got a chance to play early. If J Will can play some as a freshmen, so can this kid.
He's got a some real moves with the ball in his hand and will be another able target this year for Todd and be a major threat down the road.

Sorry if this is choppy, let me know if you have any questions.
