junk - edited on 1/23/9

DJ Beshears was supposed to be the slot WR that KU needs, but that isn't the case.
Let's be honest he wasn't going to play as a true frosh. But he told Jayhawkslant that he's going to start at DB and probably CB sooooo does that mean Patterson is going back to O? I hope so although his progress at corner was really nice.
As some of you know, I love me some D Patterson so I'd like to see him get the ball in his home run hitting hands.
So we'll continue to monitor this in the blogosphere.

As signing day is now less than 2 weeks away for football, shits about to get real.
KU is still chasing some guys that will make a difference on the field. There will be some guys on campus this weekend and some targets committing in the next week so we'll know soon exactly what this class looks like.

If I had to guess today, I'd bet there won't be a kicker in the class but the situation is fluid so it could change.

Also while we're at it an indication that you are growing as a program that no one talks about is the kind of walk ons that you get. Last year KU got a walk on from an athletic OL and this year they have a solid corner and somebody else that escapes me.
While a lot of these dudes won't ever see the field they help in practice and you play how you practice.

Over in hoops-
Hawks freaking rolled house on Monday against an inferior team. But a real test is coming up on Saturday but this team keeps getting stronger so I like our chances (see we Win)

With the impending departures of Collins and Cole looking more and more plausible by the day there is going to be at least 1 scholarship available and Self is working hard for the money to make sure it gets filled by a stud.

In the last week we have heard of Self watching top ranked John Wall and Dooley mixing in a game too.
Self is in on at least 3 Juco guys, most likely fall back plans but too early to tell.
And Self is making it a top priority to get ninth grader Perry Ellis who attends a school in Wichita that has less gang violence than the one that Kelting attended.
Self has gone to see Ellis in the last week and had his mother attend a game without Perry, Self is going to do everything he can to get this emerging stud.

I think that about wraps it up

blogger's edit- 1/23/9
Last night after this blog was originally posted, KU recieved their biggest verbal commitment yet, in 4 star Safety /ATH Bradley McDougald.
I remember when I found out he was visting, I traded e-mails about him and how I thought it was likely at the time that we'd recieve a commitment from him with Erik Lund of Erik Lund's 11th and Mississippi Tailgate.
So this is really big news and pretty much ends the class, ALMOST.

I think there's 2 spots left now and the coaches are still working on / holding out for DQ and then whatever hits is cool, maybe an OL.
But great news.

Best thing about this kid, who will wind up playing the Slot (or at least thats the plan) is that he didn't want to make a big deal out of it, because he didn't want to take away from his HS hoops team, a kid like that just reaks of a Mangino kid.
Excellent.
