What's the deal with Royce Woolridge

Royce was the first player to commit to KU after the National Championship in 2008 and he gave his verbal pledge before the start of his Junior year.
So you're thinking, what a stud, what a can't miss prospect.
Add the fact that his dad, Orlando, used to play in the league and that he was told he could grow to as tall as 6-8, and you had every right to be excited.

Kurtis Townsend watched him play last summer and he just went off, dropping 40 and 50 point games like it was his job and then he missed some time on the AAU circuit and he hasn't really done anything worth blogging about.

Is this a case of expectations being too high or is this a case of him simply under delivering?

Well, I think its a case of under delivering.
Sure he was state player of the year in Arizona his junior year, not a hot bed for hoops talent by any means, and he led them to a state title.

But since then he has dropped in the Rivals rankings to a weak #96.
Every report from every tourney he plays in is very blah. He scored 20 points blah hit a couple 3's blah etc.

While in Lawrence he couldn't hit a 3 to save his life at the Jayhawk invitational.

So where does that him?
Is this class of 2010 just that outstanding that there are 95 better players than him or is it that he leveled off / peaked too soon?

I think there is a lot of talent in the class of 2010, but not as much as 2009, with Royce it appears he has plateaued.

I've sat around and thought of all the reasons why his numbers aren't more eye popping.
Is he the only weapon on his team and everybody just doubles him and gets the ball out of his hands?
No, some guy from his squad just got offered by 3 teams in one day due to his play this last week in Vegas highlighted by an offer from Indiana.

So with that out of the question it seems like our expectations of Royce need to be adjusted and when he hits campus, if he even makes it, Brady and Tyrel will be seniors, and maybe Royce is the next 4 year guy that is a spot up shooter?
Who knows, maybe I'm wrong and he gets to campus and starts going against Elijah Johnson and other talents in the back court and his game gets sharper.

With this in mind should we be concerned about other young guys that have been offered, like guys from the 2012 class?
I'm not worried about it, I think Royce is the exception to recruiting early and not the rule.
