Record are made to be broken - part 2

While the O is setting and breaking records weekly the D could be making a mark in the record books as well.

Let's start with career interceptions, nobody is catching Ray Evans at least nobody on this team- but it'd be great if they did- Evans finished his illustrious career with 17 picks.
Darrell Stuckey and Justin Thorton both enter their Senior seasons with 7 INT's each. Based in what they have done in the past we can expect both of them to get at least 2 INT's this year, which would put them into a tie for 8th place all time and with 3 INT's they would be in a tie for 5th place.
Let's hope Stuckey has as many as he had last year if not more (he had 5) if he had 5 in 09 he would be tied for 3rd all time and 6 picks would tie him with Aqib Talib.
I'm betting more on Stuckey than Thorton because I'm not sure Thorton is going to start and Stuckey is a stud.

Algie Atkinson is the all time sack leader at KU with 24.
Jake Laptad enters his Junior campaign with 10 sacks to his name including 7 last year which tied him for the 8th best season in KU history for bringing down the QB.
If Laptad has 7 sacks again this year (Laptad went on the record as saying new D-Line coach, Tom Sims, was teaching them a lot of new techniques and moves and he thinks the D-line himself included will be much better next year) he would be tied with Nate Dwyer and Dana Stubblefield for 5th all time and still have a shot to tie Atkinson for the all time mark before he walks down the hill.

On a side note- I wonder what the record is for most safeties because Laptad had 2 last year and they are rare, maybe he'll like 6 this year and some schmuck at at KUAC will have to look it up.

As much as I'm giddy over our Offense it'll be nice to see Laptad have a breakout year and Stuckey to continue his salty play in the defensive backfield and make some noise in the record books.

Get excited because History Awaits.
